SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS

Engine and Power Train Diagnosis and Repair

•Rebuild both Turbos, marine gear, and install new injectors on CAT D349 engines.

•Perform inspections and performance tests on incoming machinery.

•Inspect and rebuild differential and bevel gear components on CAT D-11R, 793,657,785 and 24H large mining

equipment.

•Troubleshoot why the engine “derated” on a CAT 3516 HEUI engine.

•Determine source of metal contamination on cat 793 Haul Truck final drive.

•Diagnose loss of power on CAT 3406E model engines using a lap top computer.

•Determined that the loss of power to the vibrating tampers on a rail tie tamper was due to faulty injectors and

misadjustment on a governor, on a Detroit 4 – 71 engines.

•Rebuild rocker shaft assemblies on Cat 3408 engine due to galled adjustment screws.

•Determine engine miss on 3408 engine due to broken bridge dowel and subsequent loss of valves.

•Replace and rebuild trucks on E M D Locomotives.

•Perform tune ups and diagnose Detroit 563C engines on E.M.D locomotive 900 and 1200 switch engines.

•Diagnosed loss of drive train power on 988B loader due to excessive leakage from torque converter.

•Perform tune-ups on Detroit 3, 4, and 7 series engines, Caterpillar, Cummins, International, Perkins and Ford diesel

engines.

Heavy Equipment Repair and Maintenance

•While at N.C. Machinery I was required to disassemble, inspect and quote parts costs.

•Calibrate piston pumps and reset hydraulic relief pressures on various Cat machines.

•Install and set preload specs on a 994-wheel loader articulation hitch.

•Troubleshoot, repair and calibrate a Electro hydraulic Pilot control valve on a 980g loader.

•Inspect and repair Heater and A/C systems on both vehicles and equipment.

•Remove and install both cylinder head gaskets and a piston pack an a CAT 3412 engine

•Perform scheduled PM’s, diagnostics, and repairs on all waterfront log yard equipment at Simpson Timber with a

minimal amount of downtime allowed.

•Responsible for all equipment repairs and maintenance on Shovels, Dozers, Skidders, Shear, and Log trucks for Larry

Manke Logging.

•Implemented a scheduled maintenance program and performed repairs for a fleet of excavating equipment for R.G.

Forestry Consultants.

•Reorganize and improved the maintenance program and performed all maintenance and repairs on Mason County

Fire District # 4’s Firefighting, rescue and aid apparatus.

Electronic Diagnosis and Repair

•Determine “Do not shift” code on an Allison 4060P transmission on a Pierce Fire Engine. Traced it down to a bent

pin on the shift module connection.

•Ability to verify and prove circuitry on E.M.D locomotives.

• Install and wire a Red Dot Heater/Air Conditioning unit on Wagner Log Stacker.

•Diagnose and repair various Cat systems using E.T.

Structural Repair and Welding

•Currently performing structural welding, fabrication, component installation and all line boring operations as

needed at N.C. Machinery

•As owner and operator of my part time business, Coffman Welding and Repair, I performed planned and emergency

repairs on various logging, excavating, and hauling equipment. This included repairs of hydraulic cylinders,

truck frames, log bunk gear, cracked main and stick booms, drive lines and drive train components. I also rebuilt

and resealed hydraulic control valves.

•As the lead Mechanic and Welder at Shelton Central Shop I performed various fabrication and structural repairs on

anything from Logging and Construction equipment to engine stand s for JP-8 jet engines.

•Retrofitted a Komatsu 120 excavator into a hydraulic tree shear with 28” Timco Saw Head for WestBrook Logging.

•Have been certified in the all phases of Welding (MIG TIG Stick) both in the Aircraft Aerospace and structural

disciplines.

•Can operate milling machine, drill press, multi torch electronic and mechanical pattern burner, plasma arc cutting

and limited lathe operations.

Served as a Lieutenant for Mason Fire District #4. Duties include overseeing fire scenes and aid calls, instructing

firefighters and new recruits in fire behavior, fire suppression and EMS operations, and regularly acting as weekend

command duty officer. I have been a fire fighter and Washington State certified E.M.T. for nine years, International

Fire Service Training Association instructor for eight years, and currently serve as Simpson Timber Co. Timberland

First aid Instructor.
