Microsoft Data Center $400M. (April 2008 - February 2009)
* Located in Northlake, IL on 12 acres, 400K sq ft facility
consisting of a two story main building (shell built by
others) and a three story addition. The project includes roof
mounted cooling towers, separate structure for eleven
generators, two water storage tanks and underground fuel
tanks.
* Site superintendent and safety control for second shift
work: Coordinated field activities (exterior & interior
trades) with first and third shift superintendents.
Monitor/enforce activities for safety compliance and
create reports. Once moved to first shift, role was then
site superintendent. Worked with exterior trades, design
issues and design changes. Also coordinated with the
architect on these design issues.
Arlington Heights Village Hall $25M (February 2006 - April 2008)
* Located in Downtown Arlington Heights, IL, a four story 78K sq
ft complex including a new parking garage fa ade and plaza
structure. Mechanical system included two air handling units,
one chiller, one generator back up and smoke evacuation
exhaust system. Interior finishes consist of custom millwork,
terrazzo and ceramic flooring and granite tops. Adjacent to
an existing Police Department, shared parking lot made site
logistics challenging. But more challenging was phasing the
construction due to the building we had to demo to build the
Village hall housed the Fire Department that couldn't move out
until half the foundations were complete and steel was
starting.
* Project Engineer/Superintendent: Collected and scoped
bids to create budget and GMP. Interviewed
subcontractors, negotiated and wrote contracts.
Stationed on site I worked along with field
superintendent on subcontractor commencement and
material delivery. Monitored and managed project costs
(including CCIP), change orders and contingency spending
with Architect and Owner. Coordinated and tracked shop
drawings/submittals with Architect/Engineer/Owner.
Worked in tandem with field superintendent on MEP
coordination with Architect and Engineer. Monitored and
trained intern and entry Project Engineer. Presided over
weekly progress and coordination meetings with the
Architect and Owner. At midway point of the project
added responsibility was site superintendent. Duties
included scheduling and coordinating the completion of
the site work along with phasing activities due to the
shared site with the police department. Responsible for
project close out, including as-built/O&M's, punchlist
and reconciling job costs.
Northern Builders, Inc., Owner, Developer & Contractor - Schiller
Park, IL - Construction Project Manager / Assistant Project
Manager
August 1996 - February 2006
* Managed the construction of several design build/plan and spec
industrial warehouse/process/manufacturing facilities from
land development to job closeout on jobs ranging from 10,000sf
to 400,000sf and from $100K to $20M.
* Hired in 1996 as an assistant project manager I was
assigned field activities and worked under a seasoned
project manager. I supervised two different developments
from the ground up. Coordinated field activities and
resolved site constraints/issues and design challenges.
I continued in the field with several other projects
until 1999 where I was promoted to a second level APM
where I then worked under the V.P. of Construction
managing my own jobs. I oversaw and trained incoming
project engineers while in the field with them. At this
point my responsibilities went from field superintendent
to plan development and coordination with the Architect,
Engineer and MEP. Once plan development was complete I
would submit, track and obtain permits. Created and
maintained project schedules. My next task was to
temporarily relocate to Sterling, IL where I managed and
supervised the 5 month, 40k sq ft 5M project from start
to finish. I searched out, interviewed and hired local
subcontractors including some of our local subs willing
to commute. At the completion of this project I was
promoted to Project Manager in 2001. Responsibilities
increased to manage multiple projects totaling from 12M
to 20M and 100K to 400k sq ft. I worked under the V.P.
of Construction overseeing multiple superintendents.
Tasks included plan development/coordination, MEP
coordination, scheduling, permitting,
bidding/scoping/awarding, cost management, client
relations and job close out.
Ulman Fantasies - Darien, IL - Laborer/Carpenter (non-union)
March 1995 - August 1996
. Worked as a non-union laborer for 6 months then was moved up
to a non-union carpenter. Projects involved residential
remodels and custom homes in the western suburbs.
