Dear Employer,
Please accept this letter as my formal application for employment with your organization, presenting my background, experience and education. I blindly came into the construction field 6 years ago and since then I became comfortably knowledgeable in Purchasing, dispatching and Construction Supervision and quite taken in by the entire industry. However, due to the recession I will use the experience and skills I mastered in that industry and adjust them to another opportunity, with the same enthusiasm to be successful.
I used Microsoft Office to compile schedules, worksheets, address correspondence and email business partners. I issued all purchase orders and processed Accounts Payable. I held previous Office Manager and Administrative positions and my duties in my last employer totaling over 10 years experience in handling the chaos involved in keeping a hectic office thriving.
I was responsible for scheduling and overseeing the crews completing service laterals for new subdivisions. These crews were responsible for extending underground utilities from back of curb to the home. When supervising, I learned the strengths and weakness of each employee and used that to build crews that are more productive. I valued the work of each crewmember by understanding and learning their individual contributions to our projects to be able to use this information when ordering material, completing schedules, and staying within budget in these harsh economic times.
When purchasing material, the relationship with a supplier was a key point to maintain prices reasonable and expect exceptional customer service. Being organized and having an accurate inventory of material and anticipating the company’s needs also improved the relationship with our suppliers. I handled multiple “emergencies” in an extremely fast paced environment with immediate action under minimal or no supervision. Prioritizing and anticipating co-workers needs and/or work habits became my best weapon to see that projects had productive outcomes.
I worked side by side with Area Superintendents, Estimators, Inspectors, Clients and Foreman to review work progress and compliance with all Specification and Standards as required by each city, county, municipality or specific utility district, according to submittals and plans or required material testing. A successful project meant a happy customer, and future business.
Overall, I use every resource, every helping hand, words of advice, and take advantage of every mentor in my path to be successful. I am ready to learn your game and play by the rules, just throw me the ball and let me run with it.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Yesenia Avila
