PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

BROOKS AUTOMATION, Chelmsford, MA

Systems Engineer III

2010-Present

Systems and Test Engineer on semiconductor wafer processing systems

• Designed and wrote the LabVIEW control software for many of Brooks Automation’s semiconductor wafer processing systems utilizing DeviceNet communications

• Created “Stand-Alone” versions of the software along with detailed test procedures to be used by technicians on the production floor

Lead Test Engineer on Automatic Wafer Centering (AWC) Sensor Project

• Designed and built the experimental system for performance evaluation of opto-electronic wafer sensing devices at temperatures from 22 C to 220 C

• Designed and wrote the LabVIEW software for test automation, temperature control, collection of sensor electronic data, robot motion control and data analysis

• Wrote detailed test report for the customer

Lead Test Engineer on Hot Wafer Project

• Completely refurbished a heavily used MX-800 engineering system

• Designed and wrote the LabVIEW software to run the system in its normal operating mode

• Extended the system’s and software’s capability to measure the wafer slippage on the robot arm up to temperatures of 400 C

BAE SYSTEMS, Lexington, MA

Senior Principal Systems Engineer

2007 – 2010

Systems and test engineer for 17 µm Thermal Weapons Sight (TWS)

• Senior member of an engineering team to qualify the 17 µm TWS design.

• Developed an image collection and analysis procedure to aid in finding the root cause of image quality problems.

Systems and test engineer for Bridge TWS

• Systems and test engineering lead for the environmental testing of the Bridge TWS qualification testing.

• Designed and wrote the LabVIEW test software for all of the environmental tests.

• Wrote test plans and procedures derived from system requirements.

• Arranged for and coordinated testing at several off-site locations.

• Wrote detailed test report.

DRAPER LABS, Cambridge, MA 2007–2007

Software designer and programmer 3.5 month contract position

• Designed, wrote, and documented the master control software in LabVIEW for a complex multi-part system.

• This software enabled the operator to control multiple computers and test programs from a single computer in a remote location.

• This classified project was completed successfully in 3.5 months.

SSG PRECISION OPTRONICS, INC. Wilmington, MA 1998 – 2006

Design and test engineer for a state of the art high precision fast steering mirror (FSM)

• Designed test station to verify static and dynamic performance of this electro-optic assembly.

• Developed detailed test procedures according to ISO standards.

• Oversaw fabrication of facility, UUT test fixtures and special test equipment.

• Designed and wrote the LabVIEW software that fully automated the test station

• Successfully performed testing to detailed specification and handed off to test engineers.

Design and test engineer on SBIRS-HI IR Internal Calibration Unit (ICU)

• Primary responsibility for design, fabrication, operation, maintenance, and upgrades of a fully automated test station for space telescope hardware. This hardware program is the highly visible Space-Based Infrared Surveillance “SBIRS” system that is a recognized national asset.

• Designed and built an integral 3-axis stage system for SBIRS ICU testing.

• Prominent member of science team that developed the detailed design of the IR ICU source including source configuration, dimensions and spectral characteristics.

• Designed and constructed the test system to characterize the IR radiation sources used in the ICU.

• Designed and built the thermal system in a test dewar to test the ICU over a temperature range of 100 K to 340 K including development and implementation of the PID algorithm.

• Designed and wrote the LabVIEW software for data analysis, temperature control instrumentation and full automation of the entire test system.

Test Engineer And Software Designer –SBIR HITEST Test Bed

• Designed and wrote all the LabVIEW deliverable control software and the test software for the customer’s scanning test system, HITEST, the test bed for the SBIRS High telescope.

• The control software included routines that automatically commutated the motors/encoders for all 3 axes, homed the scanner, diagnostic routines that identified and reported all error modes, input the PID parameters, routines that controlled several types of scanning motion.

• Wrote test software to perform and automate, position error, position following error, run out, and encoder drift.
