and/or manage contract negotiations, reduce inventories and cost of manufacturing. Implemented warehousing operation,

quality assurance procedures, purchasing policies and procedures for a refrigeration company in Richmond, IN. Performed as a

Plant Superintendent for an automotive interior manufacturer. Primary responsibility was to assure timely deliveries for ILVS

(In-line Vehicle Sequencing) parts for several Ford plants. Worked as a consultant to several investment management firms

providing insight to various concerns about plastic, wallcovering, and vinyl product manufacturing operations.

Crane Performance Siding - Crane Plastics, Columbus, Ohio July 2003 - August 2004

Purchasing Manager. Defined and organized the company’s first formal purchasing department. Developed Vendor Profile,

Criteria, and Evaluations. Negotiated major contracts for several raw materials, MRO, and Capital Equipment suppliers.

Trained and mentored new purchasing professionals. Developed departmental budget and forecasting; negotiated and

managed all auto leasing agreements, negotiated IT contracts, software licensing, utilities such as phone services, cellular

agreements, business accounts for customer service. Monitored and supervised accounts payable transactions, accounts

receivable credit issues, and shipping and receiving documentation.

Saved $1.75M annually by negotiating new contract for primary raw material [resin] with competitors.

Saved an additional $825,000 annually by negotiating another raw material contract for titanium dioxide with 12-month

price protection, a rarely seen advantage.

Secured over $180,000 in annual rebates through a supplier that had a tripartite rebate incentive. Convinced other

Crane divisions of its merits while also securing lowest prices.

Purchased wide range of goods overseas including resins from Japan and China, stabilizers from Korea, and various

Buyer/Planner [L/T Contract position]. Purchased all electronic components needed in the repair of Verifone credit card readers

and printers. Performed, analyzed, and reported all buyer metrics such as HPU, MCPU, DOS, Inventory Values and Turns.

Managed and reduced inventory to maintain lowest economic levels. Obtained external buyers for all excess and obsolete

inventories. Monitored and supervised accounts payable transactions, accounts receivable credit issues, and shipping and

receiving documentation.

Obtained vital repair parts for units at 92% off original price: Saved $71,500/month. That saving in turn reduced our

marginal cost/unit from $27 to about $12.50.

Negotiated $30,000 in savings by bringing in new vendor of cafeteria services who offered the same level of service plus

a number of free beverages for company employees.

Sold off $530,000 of obsolete and slow-moving inventory at 95% of its value.

Purchased all electronic components from China; sourced repair parts from Japan, China, Indonesia, and Korea; and

purchased and sold electronic components to sister facility in Brazil.

Columbus Coated Fabrics - Decorative Surfaces Inc., Columbus, Ohio September 1984 - July 2001

[This was a Borden Inc. Chemical division- Columbus Coated Fabrics had over 850 employees and $172M in annual sales.]

Purchasing and Materials Director [May 2000-July 2001]. Directed all activities of Purchasing, Production Planning,

Scheduling, Shipping/Receiving, and Warehousing staffs. Also conducted daily staff meetings of all Production, Marketing,

Sales, and Design Departments. Managed on-site raw material and work-in-process warehouses as well as off-site finished

goods warehouse. Responsible for cash flow management. Manage IT department with responsibilities for all IT contracts,

licensing agreements, telecom services such as cellular phones, 800 accounts, and Muzak account. Fielded all incoming payment

requests, discussions, and impending lawsuits. Direct reports: 6 Buyers, 3 Schedulers, 2 Production Planners, and 2 Interns.

Also responsible for inventory and cash flow analysis. Provided assistance and information to external bank auditors.

Managed 700,000 square feet facility as well as a work force of 650 union employees during the absence of Plant manager.

Assisted in the closing of facility by negotiating all sales of inventories and equipment. Reported directly to CFO and CEO of

company. Began career with Columbus Coated Fabrics as a Manufacturing Associate, after gaining valuable insight of internal

operations, learning how to operate all factory machinery was gradually promoted from the floor to Manufacturing Supervisor,

to Raw Materials Manager, Production Planner, Inventory Control Manager, Senior Buyer, Purchasing Manager, and then to

Purchasing and Materials Director.

Saved $90,000/year by convincing a major client to return packaging materials to us. Saved an additional $55,000/year

by salvaging almost 200 pallets monthly elsewhere. The return of other packaging supplies netted another $40,000 in

savings.

Standardized office, first aid, and safety supplies plant-wide, then chose one supplier rather than the 14 different ones in

place. Savings: $150,000/year.

Saved $175,000 by negotiating with local union to consolidate maintenance jobs in the plant rather than relying on

expensive outside janitorial service.

Negotiated interest-free repayment schedule with major supplier despite our company’s deteriorating finances.

Supplier’s account was settled in full prior to company closing.
