Promoted to a newly created customer advocate position within the
Environmental Health (EH) Department.
This promotion involved learning the key elements of every sub-
discipline in the EH field and developed the ability to relate those
elements to citizens in a way that allowed them to clearly see the
steps required to develop their property and understand why those
steps and expenditures were necessary.
Within just a few months, I received special recognition in a meeting
before the Gila County Board of Supervisors for providing excellent
customer service.
I received many customer acknowledgments for providing excellent
support for them and their projects.
To improve EH Section productivity I initiated and implemented and EH
Section on the Gila County Website.
Converted the manual permit filing system to a computerized,
integrated database permit program.
In 2009 I achieved a time-in-grade milestone, which under Arizona law
entitled me to begin the process of becoming a Registered Sanitarian.
Prepared a variety of drafts and finished materials, which included
technical content and terminology related to the activities of the
department, including materials for meetings and trainings, and agenda
items from notes, brief instructions, prior drafts or voice recording
equipment; reviewed and /or edit materials for completeness, accuracy,
format, and compliance with policies and procedures, and appropriate
English usage.
Researched, complied and summarized a variety of periodic, statistical
and special reports provided to the State of Arizona, County Board of
Supervisors, and Management, regarding the activities of the
department.
Assisted department manager in budget preparation and administration
using knowledge of past expenditures and appropriate budget account
numbers.
Received Certificates in Coursework for: AZ Soil and Site Evaluation,
Design of Onsite Wastewater Systems, Advanced Soil Treatment Design
and specialized Listing Courses specifically designed for Gila County
Wastewater Department.

I was responsible for the efficient operation of the office
Considered direct "Hub" of the Gila County Health Department tracking
all flow of work within 5 Departments within the County Health
Department; (1) Health/Nursing Department, (2) Environmental Health
Department, (3) WIC (Women, Infant & Children), (4) Bioterrorism
Department, (5) Rabies Control.
I was responsible for the efficient operation of the office; records
management including patient files, food facility licensing and
inspection files, pet licensing files and customer service for all
citizens desiring interaction with any of the departments.
Maintained calendars and schedules; coordinated timesheets, travel
requests, expense reports, and managed all reservations for the County
conference room.
Maintained petty cash accounts and prepared deposits for each
department.
Created and maintained databases pertinent to each department using
appropriate software.
Received and screened mail, visitors, email and telephone calls;
ascertains the nature of calls and direct caller to proper individual
or department for action and/or provided authoritative information
which required the use of independent judgment and interpretation of
department policies.
Arranged meetings, room reservations and refreshments for staff
purposes, as well as outside consultants providing training.
Contacted large numbers of attendees, distribute meeting documents,
coordinated recruitment of members, monitored membership and
attendance, and posted public meeting notices as required.
Maintained office supplies, smooth operation of all copiers, printers
and all other office equipment; coordinated department vehicles use
and calendars.
Maintained inventories for both County and State Departments for all 5
departments.
Participated in ongoing trainings and workshops provided by the State
of Arizona, Arizona Department of Health Services, Customer Service
and Communication Courses, Access 2000 and, Specialized Computer
Classes; Report Writing, User's, and System Administration.
