Duties: Handled and processed 2,200 teacher union memberships. In
charge of all record keeping for Rockford Teachers union memberships.
Assisted in new teacher orientations. Greeted all members and clients
as they arrived at the office. I was the first person members and
clients came into contact with when arriving at the IEA Office. Typed
and distributed grievances filed by the teacher, clerical and
custodial bargaining units. Took the lead to resolve various computer
issues in the office. Offered and assisted in implementing meaningful
suggestions that made the office operations run more efficiently to
service the members. Designed the first website for the Rockford
Education Teachers Associations. Assisted in creating and distributing
the monthly newsletter for the Rockford Public School teachers.
Assisted my colleagues with computer problems both software or
equipment issues. Worked closely with the Professional staff during
the process of getting a new office location established. Worked
closely with technology dept. in Springfield and local vendors to get
the computer networking and phone systems set up for the new location.
I interviewed various cleaning companies and arranged for the
appropriate company to do the office cleaning contract. Worked with
other Rockford employee bargaining units in the creation and
distribution of newsletters, election materials, meeting notices,
monthly executive board meetings, and general membership meetings.
Assisted Union Presidents and Vice Presidents as needed on a daily
basis. Along with numerous general secretarial duties such as typing
memos, letters, mailing labels, etc.

Clerical Trainer - School Secretary

Duties: First started working as a secretary in the Rockford Public
Schools at various sites. General duties were bookkeeping, greeting
and assisting parents, students, and staff. Handling all student
records, student fees, book fees, daily attendance, staff newsletters,
assisting the principal as needed.
The last 4 years, before I left this job I was the Clerical Trainer. I
was responsible for traveling from site to site training all new
clerical staff. I was responsible for teaching various computer
software classes for the clerical and administrative staff. These
workshops were skills related and other ways to enhance their
professionalism. I developed and conducted two clerical workshops a
year for all 169 clerical staff to participate. I created training
manuals for all substitute clerical staff as a reference guide to
assist them in a clerical position. I worked closely with Human
Resources and the Technology Department to make sure clerical staff
were receiving the most current and necessary skills needed by their
supervisors. I created and distributed a monthly newsletter to keep
them on top of reports and other deadlines they needed to meet. I
developed the districts Clerical Testing programs. I administered all
clerical tests to new and current employees.
