. Responsible for all facets of four walls retail management including
hiring/firing, human resources, coaching/training, merchandising,
instocks, P & L/ payroll and expenses, motivation, goal setting,
retention, receiving/ freight flow, execution of company directives, new
sets and planogram revisions, weekly sales analysis and follow up,
partnerships with community organizations and businesses, grassroots
efforts to build onto our marketing, and many other roles as the sales
leader of the building.
Highlights:
o First year inventory and sales awards received for lower shrink and over
100k sales increase.
o Store metric ranking from bottom 15% of stores to top 15% of stores in
the last year.
o Regional captain of proprietary brands. My store consistently led or was
in top 2 of proprietary sales improvement which led to higher margins. Led
portions of our weekly conference calls and sent out results to the region
to share with their associates.
o Increased overall margin by 3% over the last year.
o Forged a new partnership with the local PGA tournament which led to
Golfsmith's presence there for the first time ever, resulting in foot
traffic over 20% post tournament.
o Stayed within payroll and expense budgets.
o Was a leader in training maintaining over a 90% completion percentage.
Ulta Stores
General Manager 2007-2008
. Hired to open the first store in a new market. Accountable for all four
walls management. Established Ulta as a major player in the beauty supply
industry including executing the ground level local marketing programs and
training the new staff to service new clients. Monitored competition to
maintain a competitive position. Learned the unique aspects of specialty
retail, the beauty supply industry and the salon industry.
Office Depot
General Manager 2005-2007
. Brought in as a high potential. Promoted to General Manager shortly after
joining Office Depot. Learned office supply retail and business to
business retail in a high volume setting and experienced great successes.
Highlights:
o Assisted store to top 10% performance in my rookie year while training
for store manager
o Performance was rewarded with store manager position to clean up another
store in the market.
o Increased sales by 15% in the new store and raised service levels and
employee efficiency.
o Instock levels increased by 5%.
o Selected to attend Office Depot University training. It was the first
year of this intensive training for future leaders of the company.

Field Merchandiser Entertainment 1992-2005
. Held many retail management positions within the corporation from
department manager to Field Merchant over 40 stores in the Southeast. My
sales goals topped 38 million as a Field Merchandiser. Participated in all
management and sales classes/training. Leveraged relationships from store
personnel up to Regional staff and corporate to drive execution of
marketing plans and forecasts.
Highlights:
o Received a Field Partnership Award in my first year as a Field
Merchant for turning an entire market around (Nashville).
o Helped create an interactive website for the Entertainment division that
drove
execution and awareness in the stores.
o Opened/ assisted opening over 10 stores.
o Experienced four straight years of growth in sales, market share, and
margin as a field merchandiser.
o Kept expenses within budget every year.
o Analyzed class music sales reports vs. movie sales, identifying sales
opportunities previously missed by corporate, resulting in big increases
in movie and overall entertainment sales for the entire company.
o Led the charge to expand the depth of Contemporary Christian Music which
resulted in 40% gains in that category.
o Represented Target at Fan Fair each year in Nashville further building
relationships with the music labels. Worked side by side with label
representatives and artists to maximize sales.
