In this position I work solely for Dr. Daniel Zelazny who is an Orthopaedic Surgeon who specializes in
Sports Medicine and Trauma. I am responsible for keeping his calendar as he also is a professor at New
York Medical College. I book and precertify all of his surgeries and testing. I am responsible for the day
to day operation of his practice. I book all of his surgery elective and emergency trauma. I insure that all
of his patients receive the necessary follow-up care that they require. It is also my responsibility to make
sure that all of the patients being seen by him are aware of the insurances that he participates in and insure
that if referral or precertification from primary care physicians are needed that they are in place. I do all
of his credentialing as he is on staff at many hospitals. I code all of his surgeries, and insure that they are
billed correctly and in a timely matter. I also keep up with all of his dictation through Zydoc, including
insuring that Operative Reports are received by hospital medical records departments to avoid suspension.
Due to the fact that Dr. Zelazny is a trauma surgeon in a level 1 trauma hospital I am basically at his
disposal 24 hours a day 7 days a week. I also cross cover for Dr. David Asprinio who is the Chief of the
orthopediac department at New York Medical College and Westchester Medical Center.

In this position I was solely responsible for all patient care, including escorting patients to examination
rooms, removing staples and sutures and taking and recording vital signs. I was also in charge of all
bracing and strapping, including keeping a full inventory of said braces. I ran four examination rooms
and it was my responsibility to keep them clean and stocked. I also handle all outgoing referrals and
precertifications for Cat Scans, MRI’s and surgical procedures. I booked all of the surgical cases with the
operating room, and surgery center. I coordinated all assistant surgeons for total joint replacements and
ACL reconstructions. I also had to communicate with all of the representatives of prosthesis companies
to insure that all prosthesis and instrumentation were in place at the time of the surgery. I write all of the
patient’s history and physicals and pre-operative testing orders. I was in charge of the patient teaching
regarding surgery and recovery. I also triaged charts and telephone calls, and order appropriate x-rays at
the time of the patients visit. I call in prescriptions and update the patient’s charts via Mysis-EMR. I
also worked closely with the front desk and am capable of scheduling of day to day appointments.
It was also a part of my job to cover other Medical Assistants and Nurses in the building if there was a
need. Therefore I have become very familiar with working side by side with the Urologist and assisting
with cystoscopies, prostate biopsies, CMG’s and mixing BCG. I also worked occasional Saturdays and
assisted the Internal Medical Physicians with vital signs, phlebotomy, and EKG’s.

This position required my start-up capabilities in that it was my responsibility to open a satellite office for
this practice. I was instrumental in ordering all of the office supplies, setting up a computer system with
internet capability so that I could network with the main computer database. I worked solely with all five
physicians. Patient appointment setting, Physician appointment setting, referrals, precertifications, and
surgery booking. I was solely in charge of data entering of all patient demographics, and posting of
charges and payments.

In this position I worked for the hand specialist of the group and he had a very large practice. I was in
charge of making appointments, scheduling surgery, and keeping the doctors calendar. At the time I also
cross-covered for the receptionist at the front desk, and here is where I started to gain all of my
knowledge in orthopedics.
