field, and hiring and training new employees. I developed data entry

skills, telephone skills, and also worked as a personal assistant to

the field operations manager.

Business Manager for the Cranberry Lake Biological Station

The Cranberry Lake Biological Station is located in the Adirondack

Park and is accessible only by boat. Each summer, hundreds of

students, dozens of staff members, and a variety of researchers use

the station to study the local biota and ecosystems. I supervised a

staff of three work-study students, checked-in all incoming students

and reported actual enrollment to the registrar, I was also

responsible for relating all intra-office and inter-office messages

and ensuring that communication was timely and clear. I also

conducted purchase requisitions and billing, as well as guided tours

of the property, and filled in any gaps to ensure that everything ran

smoothly.

Research aide

I assisted two graduate students on a project funded by NSF. I

collected and processed specimens in a laboratory setting. I also

compiled a database using Microsoft Excel in order to create a quick

reference of specimens stored at SUNY-ESF. This project was supported

by the Harvard University Museum of Comparative Zoology and the

database is used as a reference for distribution to interested

specialists all over the world.
