My responsibilities as a Legal Secretary for the Criminal Division included

examination, preparation and processing of a variety of technical legal

documents for two Assistant

United States Attorneys. Verification of citations and statutory

references contained in legal documents against original contents and

indices for briefs, as well as composition of letters to agencies and

opposing counsel. Other important aspects of my job included calendar of

court dates, receiving visitors and handling telephone calls, establishing

and maintaining case files, arranging travel by preparing itineraries,

securing transportation and hotel reservations and preparing travel

authorizations and vouchers.

Legal Secretary (Civil Division) GS-7 September 1989 to

October 1994

My duties as a Legal Secretary for the Civil Division included typing legal

documents (which entailed preparation of orders for motions) on civil cases

for two Assistant United States

Attorneys. Other related duties included filing documents with the court,

making appointments and scheduling court reporters and rooms for

depositions, making travel arrangements and preparing travel requests and

travel vouchers for attorneys' trips, calendar court dates and due dates,

answering and handling telephone calls from client agencies, opposing

counsel, etc., and experience with relief responsibilities for the

receptionist.
