October 2000 to September 2008 Exotic Automation and Supply,
Farmington Hills, Michigan
Vice President of Manufacturing
Responsible for managing the Speciality Products Group.
Products were molded rubber,urethane, plastic and chemical process
gaskets.
The group had yearly sales of $10 million.
Highlights: This Group had 5 consecutive years of record sales and
profits under my direction. These results led the overall company to
record profits.
April 1983 to August 1999 Tooling systems Division of
DeVlieg-Bullard, Frankenmuth, Michigan
President
Responsible for 2 manufacturing plants, a sales operation in Britain
and a joint venture in Germany. Products included precision tooling,
machine tool accessories, boring tools and lathe chucks. Sales were $40
million.
Highlights: Consolidated four machining plants for three companies
into two plants which improved the profitability of the company by $2.5
million a year.
Negotiated three consecutive contracts with the UAW which saved in
excess of $1 million for nine years.
Justified and implemented a three machine multi-axis CNC mill turn
lathe cell which produced CAT V Toolholders with a 67% direct labor
reduction and a 80% leadtime reduction.
February 1981 to March 1983 SMATCO, Houma, Louisiana
General Manager
Responsible for managing the production of Off-Shore Winches.
Sales were $21 million.
Highlights: This manufacturer of diesel powered winches was
experiencing production problems which produced a bottom line loss of
$1.8 million.
Analyzing cost and production problems, I revised their processes,
removed bottlenecks and solved production problems by subcontracting
and changing tooling. These changes along with others produced the
following results:
1. Quadruple production with no increase in direct labor.
2. Cut overtime costs 60% for a $200,000 savings.
3. Turn a $1.8 million loss into a $1.2 million profit within one year.
November 1971 to February 1981 Euclid Inc., Euclid, Ohio
Superintendent of Assembly/Machine Shop
Responsible for managing 350 workers in the assembly of large
Off-highway dump trucks. Sales were $250 million
Highlights: Led the assembly department to the highest total of truck
shipments in company history.($200 million)
Increased efficiency in assembly by 6% and the machine shop by 10%.
