Fannie Mae, Reston VA (Apr 06 - Feb 07, Aug 09-Current):

Consulting, implementation, and support for Fannie Mae to provide an

effective monitoring, detection and resolution of network infrastructure

issues and problems. Working as Primary Shift Lead and Sr. EMS Engineer my

duties/projects involved:

. Netcool Webtop upgrade/migration from 2.0 to 2.2, Netcool Impact

upgrade/migration from version 3.1 to 5.1.1 and Netcool Reporter

upgrade/migration from 2.0 to 2.2 in one year timeframe.

. Assist in the evolution of enterprise product and system roadmaps

. Interact with cross-organizational teams to determine BSS/OSS support

for business requirements

. Implement OSS enhancements using MicroMuse Netcool (Omnibus, probes

Consultant, my development responsibilities involved:

. Upgrade HP OpenView NNM and OVO from version 7 to version 8.24 and day-

Working as Sr. Network Management Consultant, I supported their SMARTS

. System Architect/Application administrator for new developments and

upgrades.

. 24/7 support of application issues, developments (scripting) wherever

necessary, working on tickets with vendors.

. Testing SMARTS integrations and application as a whole as per customer

Some of the development projects implemented on Sun Solaris 2.8, SMARTS

InCharge 6.2 AM/PM MPLS SAM, Concord 5.6.5 were:

. Topology Change Report: A project to determine what has changed in

network through a topology collection process from SMARTS and develop

a analysis report for management.

. SNMP Failures Report: Multiple scripts running on AM/PM and MPLS

servers (both primary and backup) performing an "SNMP get" on all the

devices in their topology file and consolidate the findings to create

single report analyzing SMARTS failure to get to devices due to

routing and firewall issues.

. Automation of Activating New Devices within NMS systems: This project

automated addition and activation of new customers and network devices

in SMARTS InCharge and Concord EHealth. It automates the data

collection and loading of new entities using custom scripts, DCI rules

(Concord) and schedule jobs.

UBS, Stamford CT (May 04-Sept 04):

Working as Lead System Architect, my role was to define & develop

strategies and procedures for setting up '8am to 5pm' Network and

Application Alerts Management center. Main Responsibilities were:

. Lead a team of four people to monitor application alarms through

Netcool products.

. Integrating finance applications for monitoring through Netcool using

syslog and SNMP probes.

. Designing WebTop maps for various applications and integrating these

maps with the alarms to light icons on the maps.

. Defined alarm monitoring procedures and strategies.

. Set up knowledge database for defining actions on all types of alarms.

. Conduct regular continuous improvement feedback sessions with OSS

customers to capture customer satisfaction and new initiatives that

OSS needs to incorporate.

. Interaction with Application Customers and Infrastructure group and

worked on OSS related policies with them.

. Implemented Management initiatives for increasing the support to 24X7

from 8-5.

Cable and Wireless (now SAVVIS), Sterling VA (Nov 00-Apr 04)

I was primarily involved in Network Management and Integration projects as

Senior Software Developer and third level support for the IP & data NOCs.

My BAU tasks included:

. Supporting NOCs, providing them with alarm monitoring solutions.

. Creating alarm feeds (ASCII, SNMP, and TL1) from network entities

(Routers, Switches, DACS, Optical Cross connects and others) to

Network Management platforms such as TeMIP, Netcool, HP OpenView, and

eNCORE.

. Developed Netcool probe and monitor rules for various products from IP

and telecom vendors using their SNMP MIBS and their other proprietary

protocols information files to display pertinent and correlated

Projects:

. Netcool Clarify Interface: Enhanced Netcool Clarify interface to

check for existing tickets and performing workaround. Enhanced MTTR.

. Encore (SMIT) Netcool Interface: Developed an interface between IP

(Netcool) and Telecom based Correlation Engine (SMIT) to correlate

incidents in the IP side of Netcool with incidents originating from

Telecom side of the Network and update Netcool alarms with root cause

ticket information. This project all created an interface between IP

and Telecom NOC's to provide greater efficiency in the system.

. Automated Data load for Netcool ISM: Using Perl and MySQL, a procedure

was created to auto-load provisioning data from MYSQL database into

ISM on a daily basis.

. Disaster Recovery Platform development and Netcool upgrade to Version

3.5.

. GetCLR Tool: Created Netcool based tool connects to Tecnet inventory

database and pulls out the Circuit Layout Records for a circuit ID

through a right-click tool from event.

. Alarm Reporting Solution: Using Oracle reports, CGI, PERL and shell

scripting, customer alarm reports were created and were published on

intranet website.

. Virtual Call Center: Developed SNMP and syslog modules for managing

alarms from Cisco routers, Geotels, and Periphonics Interactive Voice

Response through TeMIP.

Punjab Communications Limited (PunCom), India (1997-1998)
