SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE
Twenty 23 years plus experience using automated drafting systems to
prepare design drawings for nuclear power plants, pulp and paper
mills, foundries, wastewater treatment plants, and steel fabrication
of equipment. Experience includes time on APPLICON, CALMA, AutoCAD,
MICRO STATION, PRIMAVERA, and INTERGRAPH systems. Drafting experience
includes electrical, mechanical, civil, concrete, and structural
steel, steel detailing, piping and ductwork drawings as well as flow
charts, manpower charts, mapping and surveying.
Design experience includes steel detailing, shop drawings, field
design, cable tray layouts and cable sizing, routing and lighting,
civil site layout and 3-D analysis of steel constructed buildings.

and assemble target drones for air force governments around the world
and design and detail valves and operators for commercial use. Design
conveyors and foundry equipment layouts.
Extensive experience doing walk downs at nuclear power plants and

done using Windows 98 and AutoCAD 14.
BIRMINGHAM DRAFTING - Trussville, Alabama (CONTRACT)
JANUARY 2001 - MARCH 2001
Steel detailer and designer on miscellaneous buildings and add-
ons on existing buildings. Checked customer drawings and
corrected as needed per customer comments. Job was fast pace
with quick turn around time. All work was done using Windows
98 and AutoCAD 2000LT.
VULCAN ENGINEERING - Helena, Alabama (CONTRACT)
MAY 2000 - NOVEMBER 2000
Steel detailer and designer on conveyors and foundry
equipment. Checked on all equipment and conveyors for fouls
and resolved the problems. Did civil site work for new
addition of plant. Worked with shop to resolve any problems on
conveyor or steel drawings. Job was fast pace and with 60 to
70 hours a week. All work was done using Windows 98 and
AutoCAD 2000.
THOMPSON FABRICATING - Tarrant, Alabama (DIRECT)
OCTOBER 1999 - MAY 2000
Steel detailer on wastewater treatment plants. They used
steel and aluminum to fabricate stairs, platforms, and
handrails along with miscellaneous steel supports. Also did
layout of some plant equipment requiring civil site work. All
work was done using Windows NT and AutoCAD 2000.
CRANE VALVES - Tarrant, Alabama (DIRECT)
FEBRUARY 1998 - OCTOBER 1999
Senior designer in production and engineering
department on wedgeplug valves. Crane bought Stockham valves
and rolled me over as a direct employee. I'm responsible for
all drawings, material test reports, x-ray, and bill of
material checking. Work with customers detailing steel frames
and supports for valve installation. All work was done using
Windows NT and AutoCAD14 and 2000.
STOCKHAM VALVES - Birmingham, Alabama (CONTRACT)
APRIL, 1997 - FEBRUARY 1998
Senior designer in production and engineering
department on all types of valves and fittings. I worked
closely with the foundry to resolve any problems they may
have. I did all detailed steel for customer drawings for bid
or purchase and revised the way Stockham did drawings. All
work was done using Windows 95 and AutoCAD 13.
PEMCO INC. (HAYES TARGET) - Leeds, Alabama (DIRECT)
DECEMBER 1996 - MARCH 1997
Design and detailed parts for target drones on
AutoCAD 13 then fabricated parts and fit tested them on
targets to develop new and more cost effective ways to make
targets. I was temporary here while the strikers were out on
strike. I worked in the cad room, machine room, testing lab
and assembly room.
KERCHEVAL ENGINEERS - Birmingham, Alabama (DIRECT)
MAY 1994 - OCTOBER 1996
Design, detailing, and layout of
telecommunication towers for BellSouth, Sprint, GTE, and
Southern Company Services, and others. Site grading, building
location, towers location, steel detailing, and cable routing
using AutoCAD 13 for windows 95. All sites completed on a
fast pace turn around time.
BROWN & ROOT - Pamana City, Florida (CONTRACT)
SEPTEMBER 1993 - APRIL 1994
Field designer and detailer at Stone Container
paper mill plant. Retrofitted chemical pipelines with new
stainless steel lined pipe. Field measurements were made then
transferred to CAD for shop and fabrication drawings. Other
field updates were done from rewiring MCC's to supervising
welding on the debarkers.
MACO INDUSTRIES - Pell City, Alabama (DIRECT)
JULY 1992 - AUGUST 1993
Design, detailing and review of all sawmill
equipment for lumber companies. Worked with client and/or
vendors to develop general design. Worked closely with
fabrication shop to resolve problems as the arose.
Responsible for all system maintenance, plotting and back up
procedures related to AutoCAD 12.
COMBUSTION ENGINEERS COMPANY - Birmingham, Alabama (CONTRACT)
FEBRUARY 1990 - JUNE 1992
Worked in Mechanical department on cad using
CALMA to create and revise piping drawings for Old Dominion
Electric Company. Duties include design piping, checking, and
vendor drawing review. Also worked in electrical department
using CALMA and AutoCAD to revise logic drawings and to
create terminal block connection diagrams, single line,
digital and analog logic diagrams, and P&ID drawings for
Montana-Dakota Utilities.
FORD, BACON & DAVIS - Monroe, Louisiana (CONTRACT)

Worked in Electrical department on cad using
MICRO STATION to create motor connection diagrams, single
lines, motor control centers, conduit and cable tray
schedules, and field connection diagrams for Georgia Pacific
paper mill.
SOUTHERN COMPANY SERVICES - Birmingham - Alabama (DIRECT)
APRIL 1978 - MARCH 1989
January 1988 - march 1989 on site at Plant Hatch
Vidalia, Georgia
Solely responsible for clearing request for additional used to
close as built notices. The job required knowledge of
equipment and system locations within the plant as well as
knowledge of sources of documentation needed to close the
ABN. All work resulted in reports to the Nuclear Regulatory
Commission, Inpo, Georgia Power, and Southern Company
Services so as to resolve their request of open ABN. I worked
alone on this project without direct supervision and
unlimited access to the plant with full security clearance.
February 1987 - January 1988
Learned AutoCAD and INTERGRAPH CAD systems. Mapped and labeled
Georgia Power Company transmission lines using a CALMA CAD
system. Participated in walk downs of distribution panels and
motor control centers, prepared as-built notices to document
the results, and produced flow charts, single line, and
piping drawings for the Plant Hatch project.
May 1984 - February 1987
Learned CALMA system and used it to produce 3-D structural
steel, ductwork, and piping drawings from specification
sheets. This required a working knowledge of three-
dimensional modeling and stress analysis.
April 1978 - May 1984
Learned APPLICON 870 and 880 systems. Prepared electrical,
structural steel, piping, and instrumentation drawings.
Trained other new operators on how to use this system.
