Tool and Die Maker / CNC Operator / Lead (1998 – 2010)

Performed non-repetitive tool making and die repair, conducting preventative maintenance on

progressive and compound dies daily, weekly and monthly.

• Set up various shop tools, presses and grinding machines to support manufacturing,

including CNC machines, mills, lathes and grinders.

• Constructed, modified and conditioned multi-station dies.

• Also served as CNC Operator and Lead Man for third shift manufacturing operations, taking

on additional work or special projects/ products as needed.

• Recommended changes in tooling designs to prevent breakages, failure or defects.

• Improved quality and quantity of tooling to produce better output and throughput.

• Utilized specialized measuring instruments, such as height gauges, laser micrometers,

Skillfully set up, operated and programmed progressive and compound dies on Minster press

machine. Also performed Quality Control inspections, interpreting visual parts inspections as

needed, plus operated Ionic and phoscoated solutions.

• Moved coil stock to press area using overhead crane.

• Checked materials and inspected finished pieces, using fixed gauges, calipers, and laser

micrometers to confirm that finished pieces met product and quality requirements.

• Set up automatic and manual punch presses, locating & changing progressive compounds

and staking dies, and adjusting coil feed as needed.

• Coordinated die repair needs with tool room, communicated constantly with team to

minimize production disruptions.

• Transferred coating chemicals to and from tanks, using utmost care and safety.

• Performed chemical testing and tank maintenance, controlling and adjusting chemical

temperatures, to maintain coating process and preserve product quality.

Material Handler (1990 – 1991): Provided safe, efficient and accurate transport of finished products

to storage and inventory areas.

• Moved materials to and from shipping area, loading and unloading trucks. Moved materials

to various areas in plant to support production in time-sensitive manner.

• Completed shipping paperwork, entering shipping data into computer to document order

completion and shipping details. Labeled boxes with appropriate shipping labels.

• Operated forklift, using best practices in safe operation, to move pallets throughout the

plant.

• Removed waste and unused materials to proper storage areas or recycling bins.

• Collected, organized and moved boxes, cartons, and totes to proper storage areas to

support 5S housekeeping practices and materials management.
