Representative Project Experience
. City Hall Parking Garage, Las Vegas, Nevada: Engineering Intern during
design of a 700 space concrete parking garage structure. The parking
garage structure will have an at-grade level with four raised levels. I
located and logged borings and supervised and coordinated to perform
ground penetrating radar to locate suspected buried transite pipes,
excavate potholes along the suspected transite lines. I assigned
laboratory tests and performed engineering analyses and prepared a
design level report.
. Nellis Air Force Base F-35 Flight Simulator Facility, NAFB, Nevada:
Performed a site reconnaissance, obtained an encroachment permit,
coordinated and logged all the borings, reviewed laboratory data,
performed engineering calculations for bearing capacity, spread footings
and slab-on-grade, lateral earth pressures, and non-dedicated asphalt
pavement sections. Prepared a design level geotechnical recommendation
report.
. Las Vegas Blvd Neon Signs Project- Phase I and II, Las Vegas, Nevada: As
part of the Project six neon signs were installed in the median island
along Las Vegas Blvd and the signs were up to 43 feet in height. I
obtained encroachment permit and oversaw traffic control plan, and
performed USA locate and logging of all boring and oversaw potholing
services by using an air-knife to 5 feet below the pavement surface.
Assigned and reviewed laboratory test results, provided engineering
parameters including axial shaft capacities, bearing capacity and soil
corrosivity, and prepared a design report.
. Anthem at Mesquite, Mesquite, Nevada: Project consisted of the design
and construction of a large-scale, approximately 2,000 acre master-
planned community of single lots residential subdivisions and associated
improvements such as golf courses, club houses, soccer field complex,
commercial site improvements, retaining walls, rockery walls, right-of-
way improvements, and installation of underground utilities. As an
Engineer Intern, performed a site reconnaissance, staking and by using
Underground Service Alert (USA), obtained clearance to the proposed
borings. In addition, I performed all the logging activities for all the
borings and assigned laboratory tests on collected soil samples and
reviewed related geologic maps, laboratory test results, and drafting. I
also performed engineering analyses/calculations for bearing capacity,
lateral earth pressures, allowable and differential settlements, slope
stability analysis for slopes retaining up to 60 feet, swell potential,
seismic site classification, and flexible and rigid pavement sections.
Upon completion of the laboratory tests and engineering analyses, I
prepared the design level geotechnical evaluation reports for each
subdivision.
. CCWRD AWT Membrane and Ozonation Plant, Clark County, Nevada: Project
consisted of a 30 mgd membrane filtration and ozone disinfection
facility. The 30 mgd pilot facility also consisted of flash mix,
influent flow metering, and influent control vaults, screens and an
emergency bypass structure, and two 84-inch diameter and two 96-inch
diameter underground pipes and associated improvements. I performed a
site reconnaissance, coordinated and logged all the borings, assigned
and compiled laboratory data and finally prepared a design geotechnical
report.
. Groundwater Analyses for the Pittman Wash between Valle Verde Dr and
Sandwedge Channel, Henderson, Nevada: As an Engineering Intern
supervised installing three temporary monitoring wells, purging and
sampling of groundwater in three (3) 2-inch diameter wells. Prepare a
summary letter of field activates and laboratory analyses.
. Anthem at Mesquite, Wagon Trail Subdivision, Mesquite, Nevada: The
Wagon Trail subdivision is a portion of the large-scale, 2,000 acre
master-planned community. Supervised and coordinated the field
technicians during construction and mass grading observations of this
project. I reviewed field daily reports for both off-site and on-site
testing. The off-site testing included field moisture and density
testing of trench backfill for underground utilities including sanitary
sewer, storm drain, waterline, and gas line. I submitted weekly activity
reports to the City of Mesquite during the construction activities and
prepared a final off-site report at the conclusion of the project. The
on-site testing and observation included observation of structural fill
placement, structural steel reinforcement, and concrete placement of
masonry retaining walls, and rockery walls. I submitted a final grading
report, a final masonry retaining wall report, and a final rockery wall
report with all pertaining data to the client and the City of Mesquite.
. Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) Pipeline Groundwater Development
Project along Clark, Lincoln and White Pine Counties: The project was to
locate the proposed borings locations and perform a site reconnaissance
to SNWA along the proposed approx. 250 miles pipeline. I was responsible
for reviewing related geological maps, GIS drawings along with preparing
the reconnaissance report and assisted SNWA in obtainment of a BLM
permit for the proposed pipeline.
. Tropicana Mega Resort, Las Vegas, Nevada: The proposed project consists
of the construction of 4 new hotel and condominium towers between 30 and
40 stories high built around the two existing Tropicana Hotel towers. I
reviewed boring logs, reviewed engineering evaluations to determine pile
load, depth of foundation and performed calculations for drill shaft
material foundation and assisted in the preparation of the geotechnical
investigation report.
