1) Description of Duties:
Maintain the sentinel animal program.
Maintain accurate and detailed records.

Protocols and discern discrepancies between technical requests and
ASP's.
Perform or assist investigators to perform technical procedures,
these include but are not limited to bleeding of experimental
animals, harvesting tissues or organs using aseptic techniques, or
liquid consumption studies.
Restrain, handle, and manipulate various animal species.
Perform daily animal health surveillance checks and report any
abnormal conditions of either the animals or the animal room
environment to the appropriate person.
Prepare and submit required written records, charts, logs, and
inventories in a timely manner.
Maintain surgical equipment.

Comparative Medicine
I help assist in all aspects of cage wash operations; including sweeping
and using high-pressure chemical hoses to sanitize floors and walls. I
repair and routinely do maintenance of all assigned cages. I prepare and
dispense food and water to animals. I procure, transport, unload, and store
food supplies, and disinfect animal care equipment. I routinely inspect
animals in their cages to monitor food consumption, behavior, symptoms of
disease, and condition of confined animals for health and safety purposes.
I assist with and perform animal medications, routine vaccinations,
euthanasia, transport trash, bio hazard garbage, and dead animals for
disposal. I also assist with quarantine's of incoming animals. I do
husbandry work for (NON HUMAN PRIMATES) NHP"S and work with the
veterinarian on call to dispense medication as needed and specified by said
labs.
