Objective
At this time I am looking for a job that will allow me to work with the public. My
background is in customer service and clerical work. I have been a customer service rep
since 2004. I have done face to face customer service but most of my background is in
over the phone customer service. I am very experienced in providing great customer service.
I have a lot of communication skills including verbal and written responses to members
inquiries.

While working for BCBSIL I was in our member inquiry department. My daily
activities included taking incoming calls from our members. There were many different
things members would call in for. As a customer advocate we were responsible for explaining
how claims paid, how benefits for services would pay out for future services or why items were
paid the way they were for services the member now had a bill for. I also took calls from our
providers when they were trying to verify a member was covered or to get status on a pre-
determination they had already sent in for our member. Other responsibilities were
working written inquiries and calling members back to let them know that we received their
question and to assist them with whatever it was that they needed. This also required
organization
and file keeping in order to make sure papers did not get lost and would be able to be quickly
located if the member were to call back in and talk to someone else. Attention to detail is very
important to BCBS, one mistake could cost the company thousands of dollars. All of our
documenting was done on the computer, each call would require the uses of three to four
programs and the ability to switch from different applications to another quickly. I was also
trained on processing claims and am very knowledgeable in ICD-9 Codes and CPT codes which
is what is learned in medical coding classes.

Debt Collector
While working for CCB I was a debt collector. I was responsible for making calls to
debtors in order to collect on their delinquent accounts. This job required the use of a multi
lined phone in order to make calls out and receive calls in from debtors returning calls or
calling to make payments. On an average working day I would take over 100 calls. This job
was completely computer based as we did not keep any paper files.

Customer Services
My daily duties at Cingular included taking incoming phone calls from wireless customers.
I would take calls about billing issues, technical troubles with cell phones, changing rate plans
and
features, and also ordering new lines or upgrading current lines. We used many different
computer programs on each call and were required to be able to quickly navigate from one
program to another. Attention to detail was very important as if we did not answer all the
questions on the first call the customer would have to call back in and that would raise the cost for
Cingular wireles. Raising the bar was something that was expected from us. On an average day I
would take 50 incoming calls and then would also call 5 to 10 customers back with responses to
questions we had to do research on before giving the customer an answer.

Secretary
While working for Westpoint I was the front desk secretary. I was responsible for taking
phone calls, ordering parts, scheduling appointments, filing papers, making copies and checking
customers out after they had picked up their vehicles. On occasion I had to sell the customer
on work that needed to be done on their car. I was the first and last point of contact for our
customers and wanted to leave them with a good impression of our company.

Sales Floor, Cashier, Customer Service, Operator and Cash Room
While working for target I was one of the few team members that was trained in all of the
different areas in the store. I started as a member of the sales floor team in 2002. We were
responsible for walking the floor and putting away merchandise and answering guests questions
if they needed help finding something or asking a question about a specific product. I then was
trained as the target operator. As the operator I was stationed in the fitting room and took all of
the incoming calls for the store. I was then responsible for transferring the caller to the correct
department or finding the answer to the question they had. I then was trained as a cashier and
service desk associate which included processing target visa applications and also processing
returns. The final department I was trained in was the cash office. While working in the cash office
I opened the store by counting all the money in each drawer from the previous business day. I
also made sure each register had the correct amount in it to start the day. After each register was
ready for the store to be opened I returned back to the locked cash office and balanced the safe
and made sure all of the transactions from the previous day were accounted for and everything
balanced out to the penny. After the money was counted I had to organized it and prepare the
deposit for the Brinks Officer. This job was very time specific as the Brinks truck came at 11:00
am every day and the deposit could not be late.

Child Care
While working for Trinity Lutheran I ran the child care after school program. This program
allowed parents to leave their kids at school after school hours in order for them to be able to
come and get them when they got off work. Daily activities included taking the children outside to
play and providing them snacks. I also ran the art program leading the children in daily art
projects.

Closing
I consider myself to be very skilled in customer service. I enjoy working with people
and consider myself to have excellent communication skills. I am experience in working
face to face with customers and also over the phone customer service. I believe there is
always room for improvement when it comes to providing customer service and I am always
looking for ways to make myself better. I strive to be at the top of my field and self manage
myself and my time appropriately. I am not just looking for a job but at this time in my life
I am looking for a career.
