DUTIES:
- As a heavy equipment operator I was responsible for safely and
successfully operating several different types of equipment, to include;
dozers, loaders, graders, scrapers, backhoes, compactors, forklifts, and
hydro seeders. Daily operations involved sustaining the airfield by,
loading and unloading aircraft in order to support missions of the base.
- As a team leader I was accountable for the safety and well being of
over thirty eight employees under my charge. I supervised several different
projects in different climates on flat to rough terrain.
-It was my duty as the safety supervisor to establish and maintain a
safety program to reduce jobsite mishaps, and ensure every employee obeyed
all rules and regulations.
-I was the dispatcher and was entrusted to receive work requests and
dispatch equipment, materials, and personnel required for that particular
project. I also maintained and recorded equipment hours to schedule
preventive maintenance checks and services when due, reducing mechanical
problems with the equipment and saving money in the long run.
-As the logistics manager I was charged with managing the
transportation of all gear shipped overseas for missions, or to distant job
sites.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
-My accomplishments include a certificate of achievement for my performance
while working as a project manager for the Border Patrol, constructing and
improving roads that enhanced the ability of the Border Patrol to deter
terrorists and illegal drug activities along the Arizona/Mexico border.
-I received a good conduct medal for honoring my military obligations
and my distinguished demeanor of personal and professional conduct.
-I completed the ten hour OSHA general industry outreach course that
gave me more understanding on jobsite safety, identifying risk factors, and
how to alleviate those risks. I used this training as the safety supervisor
and created a operation risk management program that involved all employees
to identify work hazards and their causes, make risk decisions and weigh
the out come, develop controls, implement controls to reduce the risk and
supervise to ensure those controls are being practiced. As a result my unit
had no safety mishaps and received the safety award for the year.
-Projects I have worked on or supervised include; construction of a
thirteen thousand feet runway with over five thousand feet of taxiways.
Several helicopter pads, dug bunkers, built over fifteen miles of berm,
graded and improved over twenty miles of road.
-I cleared and leveled over ten acres of land to form foundations,
staging lots, and work sites.
-I have performed recovery operations in swampy terrain, drilled holes
and dug ditches to avert water in a specific area.
-I have worked with surveyors on several occasions and have the
ability to grasp their specifications and incorporate that into the
project.
