WORK HISTORY
Aluminum Company of America
1987 2008
Alcoa Center, Pennsylvania 15069
Lead Technician.
>Safety- *Served over five years as division near-miss coordinator.
This involved contacting safety or environmental, investigating
incident or possible incident, and taking corrective actions
before giving summation and closing my report
*Licensed or certified
Fork trucks, cranes, lock-tag-try, fall protection, electrical
safety, chemical safety, confined space entry, loading dock
practices, fire suppression and ergonomic- best practices.
>Supervisory-
*Worked as second shift lead technician in sand foundry
As working supervisor I was in charge of closing sand molds while
assigning grinding, sawing, mold making, and traffic duties.
*Vacuum Die Casting
Turned a research project to full scale operation and, in doing so,
became a shift supervisor . This involved hiring or re-assigning
people from both inside and outside of the company to work
safely and efficiently in producing automotive parts.
>Process Improvement-
*Metallograpic Lab
After training in PodFa sample analysis I was able to cut
an average of thirty minutes per sample which led to more immediate
feedback to our production facilities.
*Die Casting
Changed floor plan, added furnaces, people, processes and cut costs.
By creating a flow of work, adding shifts, and implementing “5S”
principles we were able to cut costs and never miss a deadline while
safely creating quality parts. We also achieved ISO 9000 status.
>Training
*Various
Several online courses were required such as: safe driving skills,
business skills, ethics, proper computer use, patent infringement,
business dealings with foreign companies and governments,
corporate responsibilities- product/environment, workplace
harassment, diversity training,, Kaizan, Q.T.M., A.B.S.
*Practical
I am well versed in the proper care and handling of metals
both molten and solid. I’ve alloyed any number of elements into
both open-hearth and electro-magnetic furnaces. I know the care
that must be taken to insure safe operation regardless of alloying
element.
