Experience:
. University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh
http://cs346.cs.uwosh.edu/students/schlij70/filepile/index.php
This application is called file pile. The website provides an online shared
file storage system. The user has to register before logging in to the
Storage System. The files can be uploaded, viewed and deleted by any user.
Only public files can be viewed or deleted by other users. The system admin
however can view and delete any file of any user. User can change the email
id and password for their account. The maximum limit allotted per user is
30 MB. The languages used in building the project are PHP, Mysql, and CSS.
One additional group project developed as class project was the hangman
game designed in the freshman year. The project was assigned for the object
oriented and design class using the language JAVA and BlueJ as the
software.
Besides these two major projects, I have developed a numerous projects in
different languages like SML, Java, C++, C, C#, ASP .Net, JavaScript.
Projects like making an interpreter for Java language in ML, making use of
data structure like graphs and others for decision-making problems.
. Briggs & Stratton Corporation .NET Intern May 2010 - Present
Worked as an intern in the .NET team. Assisted my manager and
supervisor with their side projects.
* Conflict of Interest (COI)
This application is a survey form, which required some data and
design changes. The design was supported by CSS. Assigned to me, as a
training project the scope was the entire plant, which are about 3000-
4000 people. Skill developed in the project was coordinating and
communicating. It required a lot of communication with non-technical
project managers.
* WarrantyZone
Project supports the warranty system of John Deere and needed some
changes. Changing of field size to accommodate the comments and
changes of encoding the status notes so as to parse them into the
John Deere server. Language used Asp .Net. Skill developed is
communicating and understanding the type of work done at the company.
* iPace
One of the major projects worked on in post training period. Designed
the user interfaces and focused on the functionality of search page,
compare page and modify page. Project focuses on customization of
engines. Also worked on the functionality of building engines. Took
over the project from a contractor and did the needful. Languages
used JQuery, Asp .Net with C#, styles sheets made in CSS.
Successfully met the requirements by manager and the project manager.
Skill developed included understanding of requirements and
implementing them appropriately, communication, explaining code to co-
workers on the project, and problem solving.
* Conversion Project
Project assigned over the entire period. Included about 12-15
applications needed to be converted from 1.1 framework to 3.5
framework. Project requirements included conversion, replacing any
deprecated code with new standards, testing, documentation, and
deployment into the servers. Languages involved Asp .Net, web
services, and HTML. Learned to build .msi files in training and
implemented the same throughout the project. Skill developed included
understanding the working of various projects and seeing how they
integrated with each other. Also had configuration file for different
servers/environments.
. MIO, Oshkosh, WI Programmer February 2009 - March 2010
Developed modules and applications for the web portal of University of
Wisconsin - Oshkosh
Some major applications created were:
* Network Access Request Form (NARF)
The LAN Technicians used this application and its use was to submit a
request form for a particular user. The changes were made to enhance the
quality and efficiency of the application. A few changes made were adding
multiple users instead of one, having an auto-complete with its features,
allowing user to check and delete data instead of restarting the whole
process, confirmation email features like editing inbuilt email content and
giving some more functionalities and a number of minor changes. The main
languages involved were including JavaScript, ASP .Net, CSS, and SQL.
In short it is a form to be filled so that the LAN team can give permission
for the requested folders, mailing lists, and applications to the requested
person.
Documented the project reports to explain functionalities
* External Random Links
The application allows the user to add links and description to the page
and also allows the user to go through other links posted and also can
report a posted link. The user can however delete or edit links posted by
him. The main language used in the development of the same is JavaScript
which does all the work and ASP >Net to just add initial workspace to the
page. There is also an administrator end to this application, which allows
the administrators to delete, edit any link and also un-report any reported
link.
This project is similar to http://www.digg.com excluding any commenting
options and features
* Discussion Board
The discussion board application is somewhat similar to the External Random
Links the difference being the links are discussion topics this application
is more like a forum to discuss any topic between the users. The
functionalities resemble to those of the External Random Links.
This project is similar to any online forums or discussion boards.
* Portal Polls Admin and Module
This application was designed to have a poll for students. This application
was an admin side application to add, edit and delete questions also it had
a function of enabling and disabling a particular or all questions at a
time. The module was the user end part, this was designed so as it gives an
unanswered question to the user and does not repeat a question. It used
AJAX, CSS, C#, Web Services, and SQL Server.
* Maintained and upgraded previously developed projects like:
Visual Live
This application is an update for the programmers for the icons and the
designs that exist in the current portal and also a recommendation for the
programmers to use the same. The main language used was XHTML and CSS.
