To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing to enquire about your vacancy in your company for a legal
assistant. Enclosed is a copy of my resume for your consideration.
As you will see from my resume, I am currently working as a legal assistant
McDivitt Law Firm, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In this position, I
assist in worker's compensation claims, focusing on hearing proceedings.
I'm the direct assistant to the attorneys and assist them in preparing for
hearings to include completing exhibits, drafting pleadings and
correspondences, and conferring with the client, experts, and opposing
counsel. I coordinate with the case managers to ensure that all necessary
documentation is correctly completed and exchanged with opposing counsel,
to avoid negative repercussions.
Prior to working for McDivitt Law Firm, I worked for the Oleen Law Firm in
Manhattan, Kansas. Their firm focused on family law, however, dealt with
criminal, estate and landlord/tenant law as well. In my past position I
was responsible for answering phones, as well as working with current and
potential clients. I worked with several data entry programs, as well as
conversing with clients to understand their needs and proceed as necessary.
I have drafted numerous documents to include but not limited to
correspondences, pleadings, wills, power of attorneys, and deeds.
While working for McDivitt Law Firm and Oleen Law Firm I have learned to
pay attention to detail and draft documents without the assistance of the
lawyers. This meant learning, researching and understanding legal
proceedings, procedures and language. I have attained a substantial
amount of understanding in family and worker's compensation law; however I
am a quick learner and seek challenges to gain additional knowledge.
With my proven ability to manage, maintain and communicate, I feel that I
would be able to make a significant contribution to your company's team. I
would request that you do not contact my current employer at this time.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Sarah Palmer
