Relevant courses - Telecommunication Switching, Satellite Communication,
Optical Communication, Internet Engineering, Mobile Wireless Communication,
Communication Networks, Advance Broadband Networks.
Thesis and Projects
Master's Thesis -"Enabling Smart Grid Communications via MPLS" - Gap
analysis of Smart Grid communications was performed. Hence forth MPLS
technology was suggested for monitoring and controlling the (USA) power
grid in real time. MPLS was opted due protocol encapsulation (ATM, Frame
relay, Ethernet), support of layer2 & layer3 VPN security. Key finding -
with the existing MPLS technology future power blackouts or brownouts can
be minimized, consequently avoiding August 14, 2003 like situation. NS2
simulator was used for comparing different network recovery models.
Smart Grid knowledge - NASPInet, NERC CIP, DoE framework, SCADA
Projects
. "Comparative study of various bulk-transfer TCP protocols" - TCP Reno,
BIC, CUBIC, Compound, HighSpeed protocols, were compared through ns2
simulator.
. "Study of TCP - REFWA" - analyzing TCP for long distance satellite
communication.
. `"Modulation techniques of LTE (Long Term Evolution)" - Review of
downlink - OFDMA, uplink - SC-FDMA schemes in LTE.
Other relevant projects and awards
. Best Employee Award, 3rd Quarter Rio Networks (2010)
. "iBOT - intelligent ROBOT" - A robot based on Digital Image
Processing that detects color of a ball and moves in the direction of
the ball, through embedded program in its micro controller (Final year
undergraduate project 2007)
. First Prize, Robotics fabrication contest, IIT - Mumbai (2006)
. Third Prize, on the spot model making competition at National
Institute of Technology - Raipur (2005).
