800+ employee division of the international commercial printing company -

This division produces long run national and targeted magazines such as

Money, Fortune, Road & Track, Southern Living, etc. as well as high volume

retail catalogs for high profile customers. This plant is being

closed/consolidated following the acquisition of World Color by Quad

Graphics.

Administrative Assistant / Corrective Action Plan Administrator; Press

Department 1997 to present

. Principal administrative support and go-to person for production,

quality and employee issues.

. Administrative assistant to the pressroom manager as well as the

production leadership team who are responsible for a crew of 150+

employees.

. Reduced the supply budget by better measuring inventories, usage, re-

cycling, communicating.

. Analyze daily press activity reports and produce accurate 24-hour

production summaries including waste, delays and other production

issues and concerns on a weekly and monthly basis or as requested.

. Conduct process audits and analyze and report on Continuous Process

Improvement activities including all Corrective Action Plan (CAP)

activities. Conduct CAP review meetings and foster Continuous Process

Improvement and support the Continuous Improvement Manager.

. Key member of a "Green Belt" team that successfully reduced web-breaks

during production.

. Prepare the weekly manning/crewing schedule reflecting overtime,

vacations and leave of absences and revise on-the-fly as customers

request last minute changes and adjust to their shifting priorities.

. Enter data for payroll and verify payroll - to produce payroll checks

for hourly employees.

. Maintain departmental records on all personnel data for pressroom

employees including absenteeism, leave of absence, industrial injury

reports, promotional and disciplinary notices, evaluations, letters of

award, etc.

. Prepare purchase requisitions for pressroom office supplies, some

manufacturing supplies and tools for employee payroll deductions.

. Create communication memos for employees and other departments.

. Create and print charts to reflect status of production as requested.

. Prepare evaluations on employees and processes progressive pay rates

as necessary.

. Communicate with vendors and forward calls to the respective person.

. Assist other departments with production and employee information.

Manufacturing / Continuous Process Improvement methods.

shipping.

paper choices, improved "make-readies" to reduce the paper waster

during production start-ups and change overs.

paper waste to better sell the waste-paper in the condition (shredded

mills wanted it - thus earning more money on selling paper waste.
