SIGNIFICANT ACCOMPLISHMENTS AT PIONEER:
* Successfully wrote and maintained several custom laboratory information
systems for the Biotech
scientists. This included database table design and a system to
enable data transfer between the lab
plant breeder's databases.
* Contributed significant design, development, technical documentation
and training to a massive,
complex client- server system to support plant breeders and scientists
and integrate their data.
* Wrote the software to provide automated, remote data collection for the
2-plot harvester for field
experiments. This effort doubled the amount of data collected in a
given time frame.
* Completed development (in C and C++) of a hand-held PC system for
remote data collection.
* Wrote a code-translator for converting embedded INGRES (database)
commands to RDB. Greatly
reduce the effort, tedium and cost required to convert the entire
research system.
* Successfully managed a large database of genetic sequences for 3 years.
Significantly improved
disk management.
* Successfully managed the evaluation and installation of 2 batch
scheduling systems- CA Unicenter
and Tivoli Maestro. Provided timely follow up and support, reducing
downtime.
