OBJECTIVE

To work and communicate in a professional and effective manner by means of trained U.S. military leadership,

varied post-secondary educational experiences, and past and ongoing technical knowledge.

QUALIFICATIONS

From my leadership billet as a Sergeant of Marines to being that of a direct care provider for individuals with special needs, I’ve

learned to remain calm, empathize with those in distress, and keep an open mind in even the most unorthodox of situations. I

am comfortable in conversing with newly met individuals and in communicating effectively the necessary focal points of a

given conversation – a skill I learned from being a Firearms Instructor to over 720 Marines while in Japan. I understand the

importance of workplace professionalism as I worked alongside FBI, DEA, CIA, and Secret Service personnel as a Department

of State American Diplomat at the American Embassy in Rome, Italy, and the American Consulate in Lagos, Nigeria. I am also

comfortable and literate with a computer as my technical trainings include 8 programming, networking, and troubleshooting

certifications and I type efficiently at over 80 words per minute.

EMPLOYMENT

May 2008 – Nov. 2009 Direct Service Professional, REM Iowa Community Services, Inc.

My position as a Direct Service Professional afforded me the opportunity to take care of three consumers on a 40-60

hour basis per week by assisting them in their daily tasks of cooking, household cleaning, maintaining proper personal hygiene,

and dispersing individual prescribed medications. From this job I’ve learned to be calm, flexible, and remedy unforeseen needs

and emergencies in the most appropriate manner that is available.

May 2001 – Feb. 2008 Firearms Instructor & Marines Security Guard, United States Marine Corps

With verbal and practical application instruction, I trained over 700 Marines in the proper utilization of their M16A2

rifles and 9mm pistols while being a Firearms Instructor in Okinawa, Japan. Upon selection for a cooperative Department of

State and Marine Corps security program for American Embassies abroad, I earned the stature of a U.S. Department of State

Diplomat and had my security clearance upgraded to top secret as my new responsibilities were to (1) ensure the upholding of

embassy personnel’s’ safety, (2) protect the property upon which the embassy was located, and (3) maintain the integrity of all

classified materials located within the embassy compound. From this job I learned to carry and present myself in an

appropriately professional manner in both formal and social diplomatic settings.
