Cheryl T. Young
Objective My objective is to be in a challenging, multi tasking position, as I have in the past.
Being a self starter and working well independently has enabled me to work in my
home office for the past few years . The positions that I have held require the
handling of confidential documents and other matters in a professional and
efficient manner. In addition to working with general data base applications, I am
experienced in the Microsoft programs. Each position held has required my day to
be approximately 85% computer related. Written correspondence as well as oral
communication has also held a major part of my workday. Prior to 1991, I worked
in the securities industry in New York for a total of thirteen years, starting in the
operations department, later moving into the area of trading stocks and bonds.
12/04-Present Self-Employed Dover, Del
Employment
I am self-employed, working from my home business in three different areas. I
have a part time bag designing business, in which I design and make women’s
purses. I also keep the books for my husband’s sub-contracting business, which is
also very part time, and for well over a year, I taught ESL to Korean students via
telephone and internet. As much as I enjoy the sense of freedom that having a
home office brings, due to family priority changes, I am anxious to return to a more
traditional workplace, hopefully with as much multi-tasking and variety as I
currently have.
8/98-12/04 Presbyterian Church of Dover Dover, Del
As the church administrator in this position, I was responsible for the daily and
monthly publications, as well as keeping the donation, attendance, and pledge
records of the members. I worked independently serving as the office manager,
and worked closely with the committee chairs, the pastor, the Christian Educator,
along with helping church members with their needs.
8/96-8/98 Independent Newspapers Dover, Del
Working in the business office, my major responsibility was to collect advertising
debts, from Kent and Sussex County businesses. I started the small claims court
department, and was solely responsible for all documentation and appearing in
small claims court to retrieve owed monies. My greatest achievement in this
position was the amount of money I was able to collect from large corporations.
7/91-3/96 Nationsbank, N.A. Dover, Del
In this position, I was a credit analyst, which entailed going through credit reports,
and either approving or declining unsecured credit cards. I had high productivity
while in this position, and enjoyed the duties. I resigned in March of 1996, to take
care of my terminally ill mother.
