Employment:
6/08 - 9/10 Expedia Inc. - Orlando, FL
Market Coordinator
. Able to prioritize in a fast paced environment.
o Due to the number of hotels that fall
within our assigned geographical area the
daily volume can be quite intense. I
prioritize based on urgency followed by
items that are going to be revenue
generating.
. Willing to take initiative.
o Some hotels are reluctant or discouraged
from working with Expedia however, we are
always looking to increase the number of
accounts we work with. Taking initiative
to call and spend time on the phone
reaching out to these accounts and selling
our business model has made comfortable in
a sales environment.
. Not afraid to express new ideas and ask
questions.
o Expedia believes that "knowledge is power"
and we have several calls focused on
diving deeper into ways to outperform our
competition. I express and idea that we
should have a call to dive deeper into how
we can grow the business of large chains
selling on our site (Marriott, Hilton,
etc.) allowing the Market Management team
a chance to ask questions and collect more
information. We now have a quarterly call
focused around growing the business for
large chains allowing the Market
Management team (myself included) a chance
to ask questions and giving us the
knowledge to dive deeper into these
important accounts.
. Successful negotiator and problem solver.
o Many hotels are dependent on the business
Expedia bring to their hotels. Being able
to negotiate items such as increased
contracting terms, exclusive rates, and
promotions would have a positive impact on
the hotels revenue numbers as well as
Expedia's year end revenue. My success in
negotiating contributed in a promotion
from a minor revenue generating market to
a major revenue generating market in less
than a year's timeframe.
. Strong development of internal and external
business relationships.
o Success in this job role is heavily
dependent on the internal and external
relationships we are able to develop and
nurture. By discussing strategies and
following through with a quick delivery of
results hotels are able to put their trust
in Expedia as a successful and long term
business partner. Expedia employs people
worldwide. By reaching out to other team
members I helped create a name for myself
and was able to use these other team
members as helpful resources in my job
role.
