Flint Cultural Center Staff:

1. Marketing Assistant for The Whiting; September 2006 to present. Under the supervision of

Wendi Fournier, my duties include data collection and entry, marketing research, physical

distribution of print material, advertisement collection, drafting letters and editing text for ad

material, survey collection and analysis, web entry of events, basic office work including filing,

faxing, copying, and printing, assisting with the development of promotional ideas, updating press

release lists, communicating with the community regarding our events, and assisting with meet and

greet sessions.

2. Weekend Staff Supervisor at Alfred P. Sloan Museum; May 2005 to present. Supervised by

Michelle Reed, my duties include supervision of a weekend staff of six to twelve employees. I

handle customer service issues and deal with any problems that might arise. I also have an active

role in selling admission tickets and gifts.

3. Custodian at Buick Gallery, part of the Alfred P. Sloan Museum; May 2003 to July 2004.

Supervised by Jeff Taylor, my duties included general maintenance and custodial work of the Buick

Gallery building. My specific duties included mopping, vacuuming, dusting, restroom maintenance,

window cleaning, and general tidying up.

4. Member of the weekend staff at Alfred P. Sloan Museum; July 2001-July 2003, June 2004-May

2005. Under the supervision of Heith Clark, my duties included sales of admission tickets and gifts,

and dealing with customer service issues. I also periodically supervised mini science and art projects

for children.

Scientific Research:

1. Graduate Research Assistant for Dr. Susan Olson in the cytogenetics laboratory at Oregon Health

and Science University; September 2003-December 2003. The laboratory focused on performing

experiments leading to the diagnosis of various genetic conditions. My duties included making

slides of human blood samples and using various staining techniques to examine them for

abnormalities.

2. Undergraduate Research Assistant for Dr. Steve Myers at the University of Michigan-Flint; June

2002-August 2003. My independent project involved cloning a specific gene with the hopes of

performing experiments to determine the various domains in the gene. My duties included utilizing

various cloning techniques and growing samples using cell culture techniques.

3. Microbiology Prep Assistant for Sheri Mayrberger at the University of Michigan-Flint;

September 2002-April 2003. My duties included preparing media, growing bacterial cultures, and

cleaning and maintaining various laboratory equipment.

Teaching:

1. Completed eighty hours of observation at Holmes Middle School; September 2005-

December 2005. Under the supervision of host teacher Mrs. Brooks, I taught lessons and assisted

with meeting the educational needs of Mrs. Brooks’ eighth grade science class.

2. Supplemental Instructor for entry level biology courses at the University of Michigan-Flint;

January 2003-April 2003. Under the supervision of Mike Kassel, my duties included attending

lectures, leading structured study sessions, and teaching non-science majors how to better understand

science.

3. Laboratory Assistant for entry level biology course at University of Michigan-Flint; September

2001-April 2003. Supervised by Sheri Mayrberger, my duties included preparing the laboratory for

each session and helping students identify various anatomical structures on fetal pigs. I also

answered any questions relating to the function of those structures.

4. Biology teacher for “Camp for Summer Fun” at the University of Michigan-Flint; May 2002-

August 2002. Under the supervision of Nan Kelly, I designed and performed science experiments

for children ages 6-12.

Pharmacy Technician:

1. Pharmacy technician at V. G.’s Pharmacy; 1998-2001. Under the supervision of Marc Webster,

my duties included reading and filling prescriptions, ordering and stocking merchandise, and

customer service. In addition, I trained new employees and corresponded with physicians and

insurance companies.
