Orica Mining Services
Director, Ammonium Nitrate Sourcing 1998 -
Present
Provided continuity to the implementation, at both the strategic and
tactical levels, of the agreed business strategy. Concentrated efforts,
since 2004, on identification and negotiation of major, multi-year ammonium
nitrate (875,000 tons per year with annual value of $175 million and life-
of-term value of $1,275 million) and ammonia (200,000 tons per year with
annual value of $50 million per year and life-of-term value of $225
million) procurement agreements, consistent with objectives of the mining
services business. Directed a team of professionals which performed
distribution optimization for 1,250,000 tons per year of solid and liquid
ammonium nitrate shipped by truck and rail from several origins to approx.
200 destinations. Provided, on separate occasions and on an interim basis,
leadership to both of the marketing and logistics functions for ammonium
nitrate.
ICI Explosives
Manager, Ammonium Nitrate Sourcing 1995 - 1998
Contributed to development of ammonium nitrate business strategy,
implemented strategy at the tactical and operations levels consistent with
agreed business objectives. Purchased ammonium nitrate, ammonia, precious
metal catalysts, additives & coatings, natural gas, electricity,
transportation, transloading services and transportation equipment.
Coordinated optimum origin-to-destination distribution of both of the solid
/ dry and liquid / wet ammonium nitrate product lines.
Business Development Manager 1992 - 1994
Re-negotiating several cornerstone supply agreements. Analyzing situations
in which major capital expenditures may be required to retain market share
and enhance profitability. Formulating strategies to integrate two acquired
businesses into the existing organization.

Participated in the development of the global strategy for a business with
$1.1 billion in annual sales. Contributed to strategy formulation for North
American business with annual sales of $120 million.
