WORK EXPERIENCE

Safety and Training Manager

Silvan Industries, Inc. 6/2003 - Present

Marinette, WI US

Responsible for all Safety, Training and Plant Security for 350+

employees at a pressure vessel manufacturer.

Oversee all aspects of the Safety Program. Ensure compliance with all

applicable regulations including OSHA including writing, implementing,

training and tracking of all OSHA required safety regulations (policies).

Develop and update safety manuals (policies) as needed to ensure written

compliance. Implement motivational programs to expand employee awareness.

Track and investigate all job related injuries. Provide monthly reports

to Division President and Division General Counsel. Oversee all return-to-

work (light duty) employees by working directly with medical

professional. Maintain OSHA 300 Log.

Oversee all aspects of Training Program including assistance to other

division locations. Monitor all current on-the-job training programs to

ensure that position trainers are meeting current standards. Research and

anticipate future training needs of manufacturing department and develop

programs to match these needs. Responsible for direct training of up to

20 employees at a time in a classroom environment. Training includes fall

protection, confined space, hazard communication, hazardous material

awareness, respirator and various other OSHA required training. Assist

with interviews of potential new hires and provide 20+ hours of one-on-

one training. Administer ASME Weld Tests and review RT test results to

confirm compliance and acceptance. On-site Emergency Coordinator/First

Response Team Leader (Emergency First Response active teaching status -

First Aid/CPR w/ AED plus child/infant).

Oversee all aspects of plant security. Work directly with Manufacturing

Services Manager to ensure integrity of building security in accordance

with Homeland Defense Regulations. Review and act upon any threats to

building or personnel. This could include procedure changes or working

with local law enforcement employees.

Accomplishments: Provided vision and action plan for training department

with the goal to accommodate growth of company by 100 employees. Reduced

plant-wide injuries by 49%, OSHA logged injuries by 41% and lost time

injuries by 31%. Recently received Hartford Insurance Merit Award for

Injury Reduction for reduction of DART Rate from 7.46 to 2.1.

Professional Swim Coach/Aquatic Director
