Hello,
Please accept my resume for the research Technician Associate job, or any
other positions that would be suitable for me. I am confident that my
background and skills in research techniques will prove to be an effective
match for your qualifications.
I have had a great deal of laboratory experience as R&D Tribology Chemical
Integration, both indoors and qualify for Customer as well. In the lab, I
have performed chemical like using different percentage of HCl or Humidity
with variety temperature range to see how Aluminum and glass disk
reaction; I also used microscopes, Atomic Force Microscope (AFM/MFM),
Optical Surface Analyzer (OSA), and Guzik Sweep Test to observe and
analyze many micro defects such as lube, Carbon, Corrosions, scratch, or
even tiny pit. In environmental field, I helped Engineers study new
advance process for future need.
During working at Western Digital Media in Tribology Chemical Integration
lab, I successfully worked closely with the samples being studied. I
supported the research in completing assigned experiments, and recorded
and analyzed massive amounts of data. This experience gave me the
opportunity to work closely with a great team of researchers, and helped
me to understand the importance of good lab practice.
My research experiences have been positive ones due in part to my
interpersonal skills. I work well in teams, am reliable and organized, and
enthusiastic to learn. I am sure that I will carry over the same
enthusiasm and skill in doing research at your institution.
Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Nga Nguyen

Career Summary Statement:
An enthusiastic and self-confident Senior Process or R&D Technician with
over 22 years experience. Able to learn and adapt quickly. Partnered well
with engineering to complete failure analysis and research on new products
Experience
Komag - Western Digital: Tribology R&D - Chemical Integration (1999 -
2008)
Position: Senior Technician
. Used the Atomic Force Microscope (AFM/MFM) to measure roughness,
defects, corrosions, lube issues, scratch test, and competitor
analysis. Then reported the summary of the tests to the engineer in
order to insure higher yield and corrections of defects within the
current disks. These reports were also used for future studies.
. Used Optical Surface Analyzer (OSA) Raman, resistance, and Contact
Angle to see corrosion counts, FA defects, lube measurements, carbon
uniformity or thickness, to scribe micro defects in the company and
competitor's disks. Provided a summary of the results and reported to
the engineer for in house and advanced studies.
. Used different methods such as baked disks or hydrochloric acid (HCl)
to test the disk corrosion status, which helped spot out defects
within the current disks. Also used the Optical Surface Analyzer (OSA)
again, to spot out corrosion, scratches, hazes, and even lube issues
to help make recommendations to the engineer.
Flextronics Photonics: Production (1999)
Position: Process Technician - Supervisor
. Organized and supervised the Pilot Line team. Overviewed all new
procedures before passing down information and training of all new
products. Provided daily summaries and report recommendations to the
engineer.
Western Digital: R&D Texture (1996-1999)
Position: Technician
. Set up, adjusted and maintained the EDC texture and LZT machines in
order to achieve required Ra, Rmax, bump height, bump diameter, and
bump spacing.
. Was able to understand and recognize texture related defects,
insufficient texture, non-texture, shadow line, texture scratches,
etc.
. Helped engineers study and research all kinds of diamond powder,
tapes, buffing solutions, substrates for future company needs.
. Used the Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) to measure Ra, which helped
spot out all kinds of defects such as FA, drive, glass-disks, bare
glass, and new substrates. Provided analysis and summary in a brief
report to the engineer.
Western Digital: R&D Tribology (1990-1996)
Position: Technician
. Helped engineers set up and quality Glide and Cert MC900 machines.
Also, tested glide avalanche for finished goods. Summarized and
reported the yields to the engineer.
. Helped engineers study and search for all kinds of new heads (glide,
cert, and burnish) by operating on the Phase Metric, Wyco machine,
Zyco machine, and microscope.
. Prequalified by using MSA 450 Tester for glide after finished goods.
Reported to the engineer after the test.
Western Digital Media (1986-1990)
Position: Leader in Sputter & Lube in Process
. Received excellent ratings, was responsible as a leader in Sputter
Operation with MDP Intervac and Leybold sputter equipment, processes,
and lube operation
. Interfaced with computer systems for SPC data collection and kept wip
in control. Reported to supervisor or manager on a daily basis.
Education
. Associate of Art: Computer Information System
o May, 1997. Evergreen Valley College, San Jose, CA
. Present at Foot Hill College, Los Altos Hills, CA 94022-4599
