Implemented the Ford Production System (Toyota Production System) and many other
Lean Six Sigma techniques to increase efficiencies throughout the manufacturing and
front office
Six Sigma Black Belt: Ford Motor Company / Cleveland, Ohio, 2001 – 2003
Reduced costs by $3MM while completing 11 projects as a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt.
Certified Green Belt Trainer and I have trained 360 Six Sigma Green Belt candidates.
Mentored Black Belts and Green Belts
Systems Engineer (Supervisor): Ford Motor Company / Cleveland, Ohio, 1992 – 2001
Instrumental in implementing Real Time Data Acquisition Systems(MMS and IFIX) to
help solve problems with production and pinpoint bottlenecks in our operations thus saving
time, money along with improving vendor (supplier) inefficiencies. Developed
applications in VB and C as well as developed reports and tools on our Intranet.
Provided a vision and implemented an off-the-shelf solution to collect and track Birth
History (Genealogy) Engine Data in a short time frame to support the new Jaguar program
at Cleveland Engine Plant 2 (CEP2). The engine genealogy can be accessed on a secure
Intranet Web site using a simple Web browser.
Installed a UNIX based system to centralize and automatically backup all PLC Logic on
the plant floor in CEP2. This is quickly becoming part of the Preventative Maintenance
System for the Plant. Our other plants on site also have plans for implementation.
Established, designed and implemented an Energy Management System for the CEP Site,
which showed a substantial savings.
Single-handedly engineered a plan to replace the currently unsupported Building
Management System with an off-the-shelf package called WEB-At-Glance which will
interface with our current infrastructure thereby providing a cost avoidance to the plant.
The BMS System will monitor energy as well as control air-handlers and chillers.
Built a team, designed and planned a project to replace the SPC (Statistical Process
Control) process in the engine plant along with re-engineering 56 supplier gage programs.
Systems Consultant/Project Manager: Cap Gemini America / Beachwood, Ohio, 1987-1992
Implemented Multi-Million Dollar Control Systems for the Automotive Industry. These
systems were designed, programmed and installed in a self-directed fashion that became
very integral to the success of the Controls Division of Eaton Corporation. I utilized Allen
Bradley, and Cutler Hammer PLC’s along with using Distributed Control Systems.
Developed Software for Nordson Corporation that controlled electrostatic paint gun booths
via AB PLC5’s, P420 Motion Controllers and interfaced by GUI applications I developed
in ‘C’ programming language. This effectively eliminated manual spraying of parts for the
end user thus reducing millions of dollars in Direct Costs.
