Enjoy a variety of positions in the Ironmaking Mechanical Maintenance

Department. Duties include, but are not limited to:

- Responsible for the day-to-day and long range maintenance for the Ore

Handling, Sinter Plant, and Blast Furnace areas. This also includes

the Utility and Environmental systems germane to those areas.

- Responsible for improving operational efficiencies through increased

reliability, equipment upgrades, and continuous improvement projects.

- Work with the area managers to develop their annual maintenance

budgets and responsible for achieving the cost goals set by the

company.

- Supervise and train salary personnel as necessary to support their

assigned duties.

- Manage, lead, and schedule hourly union workforce.

- Schedule / plan weekly, monthly, and annual repairs.

- Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve mechanical system problems.

- Maintain areas Preventative Maintenance Program.

- Perform area Safety inspections.

- Track parts status.

- Maintain open communications with department suppliers, support

services, contractors, and vendors.

- Share weekend duty coverage for the Ironmaking department with six

other senior supervisors. Responsible to be on-call 24/7.

- Sole participant in over a dozen hiring conferences searching for

candidates for the Ironmaking supervisory work force.

1976 - 1996: 20 years in the USN's Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.

15 years as a Nuclear Machinist Mate - Quickly advanced after joining the

Navy Nuclear Power Program. Successfully managed twenty people in the

operation and maintenance of nuclear powered submarine mechanical

systems. Served on three submarine platforms, one Surface Nuclear

Prototype, and Instructor/Advisor at Naval Nuclear Power School.

5 years at Naval Reactors - Hand selected as the Naval Reactors

representative to the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory to oversee

mechanical aspects of new reactor plant programs.

Education - Graduate of Valley High School, Jefferson County, Kentucky

- Graduate of the Navy's Nuclear Power Propulsion Program

- Qualified Engineering Watch Supervisor

- R-114 Air Conditioning operations and maintenance

- Lithium Bromide Air Conditioning operations and maintenance

- 8,000 GPD and 1,600 GPD evaporator/distillation unit

operations and maintenance

- Machine tool operator

- Primary and Secondary equipment preventative maintenance

systems

- Master Training Specialist
