CURRENT OCCUPATION

The supervisor at Barnes & Noble Bookstore Cafe @ University of Central

Florida July 2006-present

I have been employed with Barnes & Noble Bookstore at UCF since July

2006. Initially, I worked at the first Barnes & Noble on campus. One year

later, the second Barnes & Noble opened on campus, and I was promoted as a

Cafe Supervisor. As of January 2010, I am the sole Cafe Supervisor. I am

responsible for all managerial duties involved in the cafe. I frequently

use the Internet, Email, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Communication

is one of my main priorities; I use the previously listed tools to

communicate with Home Office, immediate staff as well as staff from the

original bookstore cafe, to complete weekly reports (budget, sales, waste,

productivity, inventory, ordering, KPI, performance, etc.), modify cafe

procedures, outline daily, weekly, and monthly activities, and to stay in

contact with UCF about current events that affect the cafe. The cafe is not

privileged with an office, yet I maintain an organized and clean paperwork

environment with the resources I have. I was involved with training all of

the initial cafe employees in 2007 and I currently am the trainer of all

cafe employees. I recently trained six new employees for their start in

the fall semester of school.

I am responsible for the appearance and usage of the cafe; this

entails the physical appearance, as well as using seasonal product and

complying with the up-to-date standards of Barnes & Noble. I am assured

that all of my employees are aware of all current changes in the cafe. I

am capable of opening and closing the cafe. I also substitute as the

Manager on Duty (MOD) for the entire store. This entails open and/or

closing the store and cafe, taking the managerial position of the store

(and cafe), receiving any orders that arrive, reflecting the highest degree

of customer service, delegating tasks to all part-time supervisors and

employees, and most crucially, taking detailed notes on a constant basis

for the Operations Manager and Assistant Manager from phone calls and in-

store visits. I recently became certified in Food Management.

I graduated from University of Central Florida in August, 2010. I am

extremely communicative and have excellent interpersonal skills, enjoy

working towards a common goal with other people, self-motivated, fast

learning, and I am professionally creative. Through my managerial

experience with Barnes & Noble, being a teacher's assistant for Dr. Chin at

UCF, and volunteer work, I have come to realize that I have a welcoming way

of mentoring and teaching others. I am used to long days of work,

frequently on my feet, and I am constantly praised for my customer service.

I am experienced in agenda planning and I work very well facilitating and

relying documents and verbal information to different parties and/or

management. These responsibilities are very much a part of my current

occupation. Please contact me by telephone or Email for any questions.

Sincerely,

Dotty Seeley
