Work History:
1963-1969 U.S. Navy. Attained the rank of HM1 while serving overseas as
air evacuation coordinator, dispensary supervisor, and Duty
Petty Officer. Attended several courses at Canal Zone College
in preparation for an MSC commission. Honorable discharge.
1991. Forster Wheeler Corporation. Originally hired as a laborer with
duties such as moving materials, detnaforming helper and
assembly helper. During 1970, became an operator of a CNC
bending machine and subsequently wrote and illustrated a manual
for operators during a temporary assignment to the Industrial
Engineering Department. In 1977 began an assignment as Coil
Line Coordinator with duties of management of this product line.
This unprofitable product became profitable within one year.
Later promotions in 1979 to Assistant Tube Shop Superintendent
and in 1982 to Tube Shop Superintendent required management of
about 300 employees in a union environment producing waterwall
and tubular products for power stations. The shop remained
consistently profitable throughout my term in these positions
with an excellent safety record. In 1982, I joined the
negotiating committee for the company and participated in labor
negotiations for the remainder of my career there. In 1986, I
was promoted to Plant Superintendent with all management
responsibilities for the entire facility of about 740 employees.
During my career at Foster Wheeler, I also traveled into the
field for assistance in resolution of construction problems on
several occasions. I resigned in 1991 to purchase and operate a
private business.
1994. Purchased and operated a fine dining restaurant. The experience
of operating a small business was invaluable.
2006. ALSTOM Power. Hired in 1994 as the plant Manger to manage a plant in
Easton, PA. At the time of hiring, the President indicated that the
plant had a poor safety record, low productivity, and a poor
relationship with the Union and its officers. These items were
corrected and the plant remained profitable until the flooding events
of 2004 and 2005. Duties here included chief negotiator during all
labor negotiations. I was able to achieve company goals on all three
negotiations of new contracts. The job title was changed in 1996 to
Manger of Manufacturing to include responsibilities outside the Easton
facility. This included selection, evaluation, negotiation and
management of all sub-contracted work. Commencing in late 1995 and
continuing throughout, I have completed international assignments
including plant evaluations, manpower evaluation, and project
management during manufacturing operations offshore. In 1996, I
completed a floor design, machinery requirement, manning plan and
start-up plan for a facility in Hangzhou, China. This facility was
subsequently built and is currently in use there. In 2001, I was
named Vice President, Manufacturing. During the years 2002 and 2003 I
completed the floor plan design for another plant to build in Tianjin
China and assisted in the manning plans as well as meetings with
Chinese Government officials in the permitting procedures. Other
assignments included the purchase and installation of specialized
drilling equipment both here at the Easton facility as well as in
Hungary. The facility closed in 2005 and was sold. I
have maintained my contacts from the sub-contracting.
2008. Began work with BVI Precision Materials in August, 2006 in the Sales
group as a Senior Sales Representative. In October 2006 became
President of the Company. Initiated systems and process changes to
streamline the business. Negotiated a new four year agreement with
the union during 2007.
2008 - 2010 Accepted a position as CEO of LMC Power Systems. During
this assignment, I was able to bring approximately
$7M of
new business through my various contacts.
