• Determined compliance of Alaska Labor Law: Titles 23, 36 (Little Davis
Bacon Act (LDBA)) and child labor; communicated information about
Department policies, procedures, processes, Alaska statutes and regulations
to the general public and coworkers (in person, over the phone and in
writing); enforced applicable statutes and regulations when necessary.
• Determined compliance and enforced as needed the United States
Department of Labor’s laws regarding salary exemptions and child labor as
adopted by the State of Alaska.
• Conducted investigations and resolutions of wage discrepancies through
conference and persuasion; authorized to issue subpoenas, complaints
including penalties and/or offer settlements; prepared notice of findings, final
determinations, and offer opportunity to appeal through the administrative
hearing process if resolution not successful; authorized to represent the
Department of Labor in small claims court.
• Served as an Administrative Hearing Officer for Title 36.
• Oversaw compliance of public construction contracts; conducted audits of
payroll records, interviewed workers and reviewed contractor and/or agency
documents; traveled to remote sites to conduct onsite compliance of
contracts and insured the proper prevailing wage rate was paid.
