IS/IT Consultant, Kohala Software Consulting, January 2009 to January 2010.
Provide physicians, office managers, and all other users with necessary
hardware setup and support for installation of their electronic medical
record system. Serve as contractor for key client, eQHIP, a company
installing software for physicians.
IS Site Manager, North Hawaii Community Hospital (NHCH), October 2001 to
January 2009. Managed daily operations of IT staff, information security,
infrastructure equipment, and hardware and software support for 450-
employee NHCH. Oversaw $400K budget and IT team of up to 5 techs.
Collaborated with managers to outline departmental and administrative
needs, meeting budgetary requirements and adhering to policies and
procedures. Managed projects, oversaw support center, Did purchasing and
installation, provided excellent customer support.
o Implemented hospital-wide system. Supported implementation of electronic
medical records system to update from paper to electronic files.
Completed network and hardware upgrades before installation started.
Setup for training of 350 end users. Then supported the replacement of
that system with a hospital-wide system.
o Facilitated organizational growth. NHCH expanded from two servers on a
simple network to more than 25 servers. Hired, trained and motivated
technical staff to support new demands. Worked with vendors to provide
excellent and robust systems. Created more work space at off-site
locations. Created robust infrastructure with few problems.
o Saved client from company-wide system disaster. While manager at NHCH
the main server crashed. Relieved the network tech with the disaster
recovery process. Had to copy off the data, rebuild the hard drives, and
put the data back on. Was at the office for over 3 days straight. All
data was recovered.

backups to full operating status within three days, exceeding targeted
restore date.
o Used the LANSA case tool (4GL), native RPG, and 36 environment control
languages.
