Capital Partners) transportation and industrial organization related to the
vehicle manufacturing industry with up to $520M in annual revenue.
Vice President, Corporate Risk Management
Reported to the CFO, was responsible for providing strategic and
operational oversight for corporate risk management processes in the US,
Canada, and Mexico, including corporate insurance, employee benefits,
claims management, and asset protection (environmental/safety/security
management). Managed up to 22 employees including indirect reporting for 7
regional safety managers. Manage a corporate budget up to $22M.
. Managed the processes for all insurance placements and large self-
insured programs including employee benefits to improve program
terms/conditions, total cost of risk, and risk transfer. These
programs include: Workers Compensation, Casualty, Property/Inland
Marine, Directors and Officers Liability, Environmental Liability,
Surety Bonds, Employment Practices/Fiduciary Liability, and Crime.
. Evaluated industrial and occupational work processes and loss
causation scenarios as the basis for implementing loss prevention
programs for employee injuries, vehicle/industrial accidents, cargo,
and environmental losses. Hired and developed a corporate team that
partners with subsidiary companies to effectively provide field
training, skill-set development, and improved standardized work

. Served as a technical advisor/chairperson for the Process Engineering
Oversight Team to establish and implement best practices (ISO) in
company procedures and processes that reduce loss exposures, improve

implementations have significantly reduced loss ratios (>38%) for

Workers Compensation case management including job specific hiring

Vice President/Director, Corporate Risk Management (2001 - 2006)
Reported to the CFO, was responsible for providing strategic and
operational direction for all corporate risk management processes globally,
including corporate insurance, large self insured programs (>$5M per
occurrence), claims management, Workers Compensation case management,
corporate safety/security, business continuity planning, environmental
liability, and reinsurance. These operations included: mortgage banking,
insurance underwriting, trust company, securities broker dealer, investment
advisor/mutual fund management, insurance brokerage, global real estate
portfolio management (>$1.2B). As part of Corporate Finance, led the
Corporate Risk Management unit with 17 employees (including contracted)
with a budget in up to $18M.
. Served as chairman of the Corporate Risk Management Committee and
consultant to the Enterprise Risk Management Committee to ensure that
the project plans and assessment processes were appropriately designed
and implemented with reporting responsibilities to the CEO/President
and Audit Committee.
. Developed and managed the third-party relationships related to risk
management processes, including those with: insurance
underwriters/brokers, claims managers, reinsurance
underwriters/brokers, asset protection consultants/engineers,
actuarial consultants, and contracted service providers.
. Advised executive management, appropriate corporate committees and
various boards of directors on emerging operational and corporate
risks. This included providing risk identification/analysis and
solution development. Solutions implemented were a significant factor
in reducing annual loss ratios to less than 18% for all major global
property and casualty insurance placements over a seven-year period.
. Partnered with the Corporate Development (M & A) unit on due diligence
analysis for acquisitions and joint ventures. Developed working
relationships with senior management of new companies to support the
implementation of needed corporate risk management and asset
protection processes and services.
. Led the process for the analysis and implementation of a new Cyber and
Network Liability Insurance program to address the emerging needs of
product line managers and associated data centers globally. The
assessment process was instrumental in increasing corporate
awareness/quantification of emerging cyber risks and the need to
implement and support enterprise-wide business continuity
planning/testing.
. As a member of the Management Policies Committee/Corporate Finance
Executive Team, drafted, reviewed and analyzed all corporate policies
