Inmar, Inc., Winston Salem, NC 1995-2010
A diversified outsourcing services company focused on technology-centric
solutions for retail and packaged goods industries in North America. Inmar
serves over 1,200 clients, employs 4,000 associates, processes billions of
dollars of promotional payments, pharmaceutical claims and returned goods
and manages over 3 million square feet of warehouse space at over 30
facilities.
Vice President, Software Development Services 2008 - 2010
Managed a software development group responsible for designing, building,
testing and enhancing custom, proprietary software products utilizing
project teams and working closely with product managers. Reported to CIO.
Responsible for budget of $6 million, comprised of consulting, outsourced
development and internal staff costs. Directed 35 associates, through 3
direct reports.
. Implemented changes that significantly improved project results measured
by executive management's objectives for predictability and control of
software development investments; specifically, achieve project results
within a +10% tolerance. 2009 Results: 12 of 13 projects completed had
cost variances less than 10%, 10 had date variances less than 10%. 2010
Results (through August): 4 of 5 projects completed had cost variances
less than 10%, all were within +10% of planned date.
. Recruited over 20 full-time associates and contractors to staff project
teams; project managers, technical and database architects, database
developers, quality assurance analysts, quality assurance manager and
technical director.
. Facilitated monthly project reviews with senior product managers and
executives; reviewed status of active projects, presented lessons learned
with focus on continuous improvement recommendations, and discussed
strategy for future project investments.
. Directly managed relationship with near-shore partner in San Jose, Costa
Rica to leverage internal staff and minimize development costs while
maintaining service levels.
Vice President, Finance - IT 2000 - 2008
Newly created position in support of strategy to leverage investments in IT
resources and create a profit center. Reported to President - IT, with
dotted line to CFO. Managed a group responsible for time tracking,
billing, accounts receivable, purchasing, software licensing, financial
analysis, budgeting and forecasting; provided financial support to 15-20
cost center managers.
. Worked closely with sales and delivery managers to define services and
develop pricing strategies. Responsible for development of standard
external client contracts and performed quality control review of all
external client documents prior to release.
. Performed analysis, due diligence and directly managed the integration of
2 small IT companies that brought in key talent and services as part of
the profit center strategy.
. Participated with acquisition teams responsible for due diligence and
integration of 2 major competitors in 2005. Directly managed migration
of communications network, back office systems and VAN services for 25
locations in aggressive 90 day timeframe fulfilling contractual
commitment without penalty. Successfully negotiated a large cash
settlement of over $450,000 for software licenses that seller was unable
to transfer.
. Initiated and supported IT cost efficiency and external services
profitability improvements which resulted in IT costs growing by only 30%
while Inmar's revenues and profits doubled.
. Created IT Project Management Office (PMO) providing executive reporting
across all business units of all software development and infrastructure
projects. Established oversight of project processes, leveraging
synergies and training and mentoring for project managers.
Vice President, Finance - Coupon Companies 1998 - 2000
Newly created position providing financial management and legal support for
coupon businesses, reporting to President - Coupon Companies, with dotted
line to CFO.
. Responsible for developing and presenting annual operating and capital
budgets for 5 different companies, including 3 located in Mexico.
. Working with sales and account management teams, developed client
profitability analysis and pricing strategies. Managed legal team
responsible for all client contracts and renewals.
. Directed 2 teams responsible for accounts receivable and payable services
that were part of the company's core business; accounts receivable team
managing over $30 million for grocery retail clients, and accounts
payable team processing more than 10,000 weekly payments on behalf of
consumer packaged goods manufacturer clients.
Corporate Controller/Assistant Treasurer 1995 - 1998
Responsible for all accounting, financial reporting, cash management and
property/casualty insurance functions reporting to CFO. Managed a group of
6-7 associates.
. Executed a complete financial system migration from an in-house, custom
developed accounting and reporting system to Clarus financial system,
including development of new chart of accounts and reporting structure.
Summit Communications Group, Inc. 1979-1995
An explosive, growth oriented holding company acquiring, building and
operating cable television systems in North Carolina and Georgia, and
dozens of radio stations in markets from New York to Winston Salem. The
company was sold in 1995 for over $600 million.

corporate office lease.
. Coordinated acquisition and divestiture process during active 5 year
trading period (1988-1993). Completed 14 deals, ranging from $1 million
to $50 million, typically financed with highly leveraged bank and
insurance debt.
. Negotiated and closed acquisition of Atlanta based company worth $200
million that doubled the company's size (1987). Obtained $225 million of
bank debt to close the deal and then recapitalized with $150 million of
Senior and Subordinated Bonds.
