Dear Prospective Employer,
I am currently the Director of Purchasing at Q.E.P., Inc. Overall, I have twelve years
experience in purchasing, manufacturing, product management, inventory analysis, and scheduling. I
am highly efficient in performing computer generated tasks and organizing my work in a fast paced
environment. I have a broad knowledge of manufacturing industries that have allowed me to focus on
purchasing MRO, chemicals, plant supplies, packaging, capital equipment, and contractor services. I
enjoy diverse business segments related to manufacturing and working in a team environment to
develop purchasing activities that bring quality and savings.
My current position with Q.E.P. Inc. involves all purchasing activities related to the materials
and equipment used to manufacture adhesives, underlayment’s, flooring, and extruded materials. My
YTD documented savings for Q.E.P exceeds 1.2 million dollars. This was a result of aggressive RFQ
activities and sampling to find alternative chemical and packaging suppliers. I work directly with
many nationally recognized vendors, such as Ashland, Berry Plastics, Brenntag, Hofmann, B.A.S.F.
and Univar. Negotiations with such vendors are on a corporate level developing supplier agreements
to reduce the overall material costs for Q.E.P. I continue to work with suppliers to reduce inventories
by another 25% for packaging materials and source new suppliers to create a commodity purchasing
environment.
Prior to employment at Q.E.P., I was the Complex Purchasing Manager for Koch Foods. As
Complex Purchasing Manager, I identified significant areas where savings could be achieved within
four complex locations. During my first six months as Purchasing Manager, I implemented new
strategies and agreements that resulted in significant savings from the previous year. My greatest
achievement was the implementation of a paperless purchasing system that managed inventories and
reported detailed spending transactions for each facility. I also brought manufacturing experience to
reducing packaging costs with automated equipment and initiating supplier support.
My energy and attention to detail has made me successful in the procurement profession. Part
of this success is due to my ability to work efficiently in a computer environment with the use of
AS400 queries, Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, and a personally customized Access databases for
reporting and tracking. I am confident that my education and experience coupled with my strong work
ethic and desire to succeed will make an immediate and significant contribution.
Sincerely,
Erik Hanson
