*As a Project Designer, I managed all work requests in an assigned geographic area

* Typical Work Request duties:

* Communicating with the customer throughout the project

* Scheduling on-site meetings to discuss the project and take measurements

* Receive and record all necessary customer information

* Design the job using AutoCAD

* Bill the customer and collect payment

* Receive the necessary easements/ right-of-ways/permits

* Inspect the work of the customer to ensure all company guidelines were met

* Schedule the project with the construction department

Leadership:

* This position required me to work on several projects at a time. I usually had a project load between 25 and 40

work requests. I was the only contact the customer had to the company and was responsible for managing and

resolving all situations.

* I also was a leader in my training program. I requested projects that I had not been trained for and learned how

to work those projects before I went to my training classes. This allowed me to master my own skills and help

others in the training program understand the necessary skills to perform the jobs.

* I often gave safety presentations to my peers in order to enhance my public speaking skills. I would present to

both small groups (5-10 people) and to larger groups (50-75 people).

Essential Skills:

In order to perform well in this position, Project Designer’s need to have excellent customer service skills using

the phone, email and face to face meetings. You must have excellent multi-tasking skills and be able to meet

deadlines. You need to be very analytical and have a small degree of salesmanship.

Reason for Leaving:

While my wife and I were enjoying our careers, we were unhappy living in Maryland and decided to relocate.

We enjoyed living in Conway, SC while we attended Coastal Carolina University and decided to move back to the

Myrtle Beach area.

S patial Statistics- I used the programming language “R” to turn data sets into 3-D maps in order

t o interpolate mining data.

Regression Analysis- I used Excel and Minitab to make baseball predictions based on certain

v ariables within Major League Baseball data sets.

Markov Chains- I used probability matrices of weather patterns in a current state to predict

weather outcomes of future states.

Optimization- I used Excel to make the largest profit for a company based on specific material

requirements.

Most projects were self taught and presented to faculty and students.

Leadership:

During my junior and senior years at Coastal Carolina University, I developed my leadership skills by

leading in group projects. Some leadership opportunities I took on myself due to my knowledge in the

subject while other opportunities were offered to me by professors recognizing my hard work.
