Professional Experience
May 2010- August 2010, Obstetrics and Gynecology Medical Assistant, Dr. Silva M.D. & Dr. Kacenga D.O.
Responsibilities:
My tasks in the ob/gyn office include taking medical histories and recording vital signs, fetal heart tones, weight,
height, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examinations, and assisting providers during
examinations in both sterile and non-sterile environments. I also collected and prepared laboratory specimens and
sometimes perform basic laboratory tests, dispose of contaminated supplies, and sterilize medical instruments. Prepare
treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean. As directed by providers, I instructed
patients about medications and special diets, prepare and administer medications, authorize drug refills, telephone
prescriptions to a pharmacy, draw blood, remove sutures, and change dressings. I also arranged examining room
instruments and equipment, purchase and maintain supplies and equipment, and keep waiting and examining rooms
neat and clean. While conducting all of these tasks HIPPA rights were always being enforced. I also ensured that all
patients had all lab tests; sonograms scheduled, and tested urine for abnormalities with each visit. NSTs were also
preformed on a regular basis.
April 2010-May 2010, Pediatric Medical Assistant, Arizona Family Care Associates
Responsibilities:
My duties as a pediatric MA varied greatly from the ob/gyn office. Office automation was mostly done by computer
with minimal paper charting. Checking schedules and organizing patient flow was completed in both front and back
office; as well as sending and receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab / x-ray reports, hospital notes, receiving
and sending referral information and scheduling appointments as needed. Most of my day consisted of conducting
yearly and sports physicals. These physicals often included weight, height, vision and hearing screening, temperature,
pulse, and respiration rate. Vaccinations and antigens where administered throughout the day and with most
appointments. Providing information to new parents on proper care of their infants was also a very important part of
the job. Circumcisions were completed in office by the physician with any of our MA’s help. Cultures and specimens
were often collected and processed.
December 2005-July 2009, Telemetry/ICU/Emergency Room Tech II, Sierra Vista Regional Health Center
Responsibilities:
Ward Clerk- Duties consist of logging in new orders, changing old orders, notifying physicians, nurses, and other
hospital personnel of procedures that need to be performed and patients that need to be attended to. Managing
multiple phone lines, transferring calls, and operating and maintaining various office equipment. Filing paperwork,
charting all activities completed, chart maintenance, supply stocking and management was a daily task. Knowledge of
computer based medical charting and ordering, specifically CERNER and Affinity. Basic computer skills used daily
with Windows, Microsoft, and Excel; organization and cleaning of all equipment, patient, and work areas.
Monitor Tech- Basic EKG placement and interpretation, notification of nurses with EKG and vital sign changes.
Floor Tech- Patient care varied from patient to patient. Such care may include; recognizing skin integrity, vital
signs, intake and output observed and recorded, ambulation and transportation, activities of daily living, assisting and
setting up with many procedures. Helping RN’s and Physician’s with procedures, set-up and other tasks. If required,
CPR and basic airway maintenance.
ER Tech- As an Emergency Room Tech my duties varied greatly. Triaging patients, assisting with ambulance

signs, evaluating and recording chief complaints, making necessary judgments to treat or send inmates to a higher level
of care, checking blood sugars, assisting with procedure, performing first aid and CPR, passing medications. I worked

June 2005- September 2005, Emergency Medical Technician, Healthcare Innovations
Responsibilities:
Main job responsibilities as an EMT-B were patient care and safety. Duties varied from airway maintenance to wound
care and dressing applications, to assisting with and EKG. Detailed documentation of each patient and the nature of the
call were performed after each call. Cleaning, sanitizing, and organizing equipment was also a daily responsibility.
Computer filing, multi-line phone operation, being quick and calm to react in emergency situations and being detailed
oriented were key factors in performing daily duties.
