As a Staff Accountant for Johnson and Company, CPA's, Inc., I prepare

financial statements including income statements and balance sheets for

business entities including sole proprietorships, partnerships,

corporations, and non-profit organizations while adhering to Generally

Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). I prepare general ledger journal

entries; manage capital and intangible assets and related accumulated

depreciation and amortization accounts. I reconcile various client accounts

including bank and credit card accounts. I also prepare payroll for some

clients including preparing the employee checks, company monthly summaries

and annual reports.

Besides preparing financial statements, I also prepare federal and state

income tax returns for individuals and business entities in adherence to

the Internal Revenue Code and California Revenue and Taxation Code. In

order to prepare the tax returns, I gather documents, analyze balance

sheets and income statements, and review general ledger detail from clients

to prepare the tax returns. I reconcile the differences between the

company's book and tax return.

In addition to tax return preparation, I also prepare sales tax reports in

accordance with state law. In preparing the sales tax reports, I analyze

the client's sales reports and prepare the appropriate documents based on

the counties the client is doing business in.

I electronically file the client's tax returns; if documents are rejected,

I research and resolve the issues. At times, this involves working with the

various state and federal departments.

When necessary, I assist with administrative duties, including answering

the telephone, mailings, receiving payments from clients and managing the

office while my boss is out.

My responsibilities as a tax preparer included interviewing clients in our

office, preparing individual federal and state tax returns while adhering

to Internal Revenue Code and California Revenue and Taxation Code. I also
