2006 2008: Engineer (Trainee) Cost Analyst/Purchasing Engineer**

DSA Electro Controls Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai, India

Internship at DSA during undergrad did lead to fulltime position after graduation. Job duties involved:

• Oversaw purchasing of steel, sheet metal, tools and other raw materials required for production.

Used SAP ERP for purchase orders and inventory management for fabrication department.

• Decided between outsourcing or in house production by analyzing schedule & cost constraints

• Negotiated prices and supply agreements with suppliers of raw materials and specialty tool

manufacturers in Germany and Japan

• As a member of vendor development team, actively worked in cross functional environment to build

new and meaningful relationships with various suppliers of the company

• Using Activity Based Costing (ABC) approach established a costing matrix by analyzing the

activities in production plant. This matrix was later used as a base for proving quotations to new

potential customers

• Successfully mitigated risk by doing capacity analysis and strategic sourcing

• Performed cost modeling for components manufactured in the company

• Prepared Bill of Materials (BOM), official cost estimates and revised engineering drawings for the

company as well as outside vendors

• Maintained optimum inventory levels using SAP ERP tools

• Achieved 15% gain in output of welding assembly line by designing improved jigs and fixtures and

by changing the workflow and worker positions

• Oversaw design changes and managed the bill of materials for product lines

• Performed 3 D modeling and simulation of the conceptual design on Pro E. Performed critical

bending analysis of main screw (heart of the machine) on ANSYS

• The actual development involved manufacturing of more than 60 individual components in different

quantities which were finally assembled to make two identical machines. The tolerances of

critical parts were as close as 0.005 mm

machines to ensure the quality

research grants using Gantt and Pert charts & learning curve analysis
