Position of interest:
Manager position -- with a team of dedicated, creative professionals
driving innovation and business development.
Introduction:
My 25 years in the high-tech electronics industry have provided me
with a diverse range of skills, experiences and opportunities. My first 13
years were spent with Photometrics LTD, a start-up scientific imaging
company in Tucson, AZ. I was the 12th person hired there and stayed as the
company grew to over 130 employees. The most rewarding facet of this
position was the fact that we built the best scientific imaging systems in
the world, we were the standard that those who followed measured themselves
against. The most valuable facet of this part of my career was the broad
range of experience I gained. My electronic skill set was honed with the
mentoring of first class engineers as I worked my way through the ranks
from Technician I to Engineer II. We all did a little of everything, with
extensive R&D, and as a result I learned many other skills needed to help
the company succeed. These are a few of those skills: metal lathe
operation, milling machine operation, cryogenic technology, clean room
technology, ESD technology, fiber optic bonding, high vacuum technology and
semi-conductor cleaning processes. I also had the pleasure of meeting and
working with some of the world's most renowned scientists as I helped to
trouble-shoot and/or integrate systems with their equipment.
The CEO asked me to manage the production test department for 1 year
when the backlog became excessive, needing strong leadership and guidance.
I was successful in eliminating a 6 month backlog and then transferred back
into the R&D engineering department to enjoy the rewards of advancing
imaging technology.
I was recruited by MIT/Lincoln Laboratories ETS (Socorro, NM) a few
years later due to my design experience on a camera we designed for them,
under contract to the USAF, to be used for space surveillance. Here I set-
up a complete state of the art camera maintenance lab and assembled 2 spare
systems for MIT to use for their near earth asteroid search (LiNEAR)
program.

ITT Night Vision Roanoke, VA
Sr Member Technical Staff
ITT Corporation, with global sales of $11.7B in 2009, is a number 1
supplier of defense articles and services to the US Dep't of Defense (DoD).
As a senior member of the Research and Development Department of the $50M
Night Vision division of ITT Corporation I have been able to increase
engineering efficiency within the Electronic Engineering group, thereby
lowering costs and time to complete DoD programs.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
Managed team of SW engineers in algorithm development program for image
enhancement methods.
Developed SW development processes and project schedules for EVM, enabling
accurate tracking of cost and
progress of $2M+ project.
Coordinated efforts of the Sensor Development group with the electronics R
& D Group on a $12M+ sensor development
program assuring proper system interfacing and schedule tracking.
Conducted seminars on specification and ICD writing.
Presented project status and gate packages to executive management.
Characterized Night Vision systems, organized test facilities, trouble shot
and repaired night vision systems.
Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. Boulder, CO
Engineer III
Ball Aerospace and Technologies Corporation, is a division of the Ball
Corporation with an annual sales of $7.56B, providing defense equipment to
the Dep't of Defense and scientific equipment to customers such as NASA and
NIST. Ball Aerospace is recognized for its development of space platforms
(busses), sensing and imaging systems included in the Mars rovers and the
Hubble Space Telescope. As a member of the Ball team, I served in both the
military and scientific arenas to facilitate efficient, quality
development.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
