I am a Pharmacy Technician in a retail setting located inside of Greater
Baltimore Medical Center located on Towson, MD. I type, count and fill
prescriptions, answer telephones, customer service, cashier, write up
delivery tickets, order medications and OTC items from McKesson and many
other duties I am learning at NeighborCare Pharmacy
2005 to 2009 Pharmacy Technician III, Storeroom Manager Johns Hopkins
Hospital
I was a Pharmacy Technician III for the Surgery Pharmacy. Our pharmacy
services Intensive Care Units, GOR (General Operating Room), IV Infusion
Center, Transplant Units, Orthopedic Units, and ER hold area, Occupation
Health and Needle Stick hotline. We have an assignment sheet that we look
at every day to see our task for that day. IV Tech # 1 you make IV' s all
day. IV Tech # 2 you are the backup IV person. Upper Run will make hourly
runs to the CSIUC, SICU, and MICU AND NCCU. Lower Run will make hourly runs
to the CCU/CCP, NEL-6, NEL-7, and NEL-8. Cross Shift this person comes in
at 12 noon and works until 8:30 pm. When you are cross shift you cover the
IV'S, Runs and the area while that person is at lunch. At any given time
your assignment may change due to call outs and any other unplanned event.
I also fill labels we have different types of labels STATS, PO, IV and
PRN. Answering telephones speaking with Nurses, Doctors and other hospital
staff. Using the Pneumatic tube system, filling pxyis machine for our
floors, monthly unit inspections and monthly section inspection. Printout
cart exchange report. Cart exchange is done every day at 3pm. We go to
the units and remove the medications that have not been used in the last 24
hours. Then we replace them with the new items that the Robot area has
picked to last them for another 24 hours. I also train people on making
special compound medications. And many other duties I am asked to perform
in the Pharmacy. I was offered a Storeroom Manager position in August 2009.
As the Storeroom manager I was responsible for placing a daily order for
our Pharmacy area using the Mobile Manger 100 machine and sending to
McKesson. I also had to do check for daily recalled medications from
RASMAS. Make daily trips to the Central Pharmacy to pick up medications
that were pre-packed for our Pharmacy area, Drug Boxes and other items that
were needed to help keep our Pharmacy running smoothly. In the position I
was still learning my duties.
2004 - 2005 Pharmacy Technician; HMIS Pharmacy
HMIS is a long-term care Facility. At this pharmacy .I fill cassettes for
different nursing homes and long term care. I make compounds, fill
prescriptions which are in Boxes, Bingos Cards, Baggies, Discharged med.,
LOA med. (leave of absent med.) and Bottles also use the computer to
reprint labels, change the numbers of labels and to backorder medications.
2002-2003 Pharmacy Technicians, University Of Maryland Medical Systems
My job duties at this hospital pharmacy varies. If I worked in the Central
Pharmacy (main pharmacy for inpatients) according to which tech I was that
was my job. The tech system went like this Tech#1 Make IV' s Tech#2
Delivery to the North Side of the hospital, and Tech#3 Tube medications to
different satellite pharmacies, or floors that had a tube system. The other
areas I have worked in were The IV Lab that also had a number system if you
were Tech #'s 1-4 your job duties was to make Compounds, Drips, or Syringes
also worked as IV support person who has to deliver IV' s to all of the
Shock Trauma and Gudlesky Units. Shock Trauma Pharmacy I made delivers to
all the Shock Trauma units, fill prescription, make IV' s, and draw up Ped-
Pods. Gudlesky Pharmacy: Make delivers, fill prescriptions, and make IV' s.
Pediatric Pharmacy: Make delivers, fill prescriptions and make IV' s.
Cancer Center Pharmacy: Make deliveries, fill prescriptions and make IV' s.
OR Pharmacy: Fill drug kits (Adult Anesthesia, Pediatric Controlled
Substance Kits Pediatric Kits, ENT Kits, Oral Surgery Kits, Cardiac Kits,
Transplants Kits, General OR Kits and, Eye kits). Deliver medication to the
OR rooms. Give out Narcotics to the Anesthesiologist, Billing patients, and
keep track of the Narcotic Inventory.
1998-2002 Pharmacy Technicians, Keystone Pharmacy
Keystone Pharmacy is an Epic Pharmacy My job at this pharmacy varies. I am
in charge of typing and filling prescription for a place called Elder
Health. It is an adult healthcare facility for senior citizens. Sometimes I
have to fill their prescriptions in Bubble Pack, Prefilled Insulin
Syringes; Split Medications which mean send enough med. to the center for
Monday thru Friday and send some medication home for the weekends. When
they are not at Elder Health. My duties also include: Answering Telephones,
Customer Service, Calling Insurance Companies, Filling out Claim Forms
manually, Customer Printouts, Making Coffee, Lottery, Order daily drugs
needed from McKesson on Econolink system, and Filling Prescriptions for
different Doctor and Lawyer office's. And many other duties. I am having
learned while employed at Keystone Pharmacy.
1997-1998 Pharmacy Technician, Pharmastat
Pharmastat is a temporary agency for Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician's.
At this agency I was offered a Pharmacy Technician position at different
Pharmacy's.

1995-1997 Pharmacy Technician, Rite Aid Pharmacy # 393
My duties were as following: Filling Prescriptions, Process phone order
refills, Compute refills, Label prescription, Patient Printouts, Cash
Handling and processing payments on SASI register, Update price changes in
the computer, impute daily and weekly invoices, Provide customer service
including answering phone inquiries, Write up outdated Prescriptions and
Controlled Substances, Complete Universal Claims and Patient insurance
forms and many other duties I learned while employed at Rite Aid
Pharmacy.
1993-1995 Pharmacy Technician, Choice Drug Systems.
Choice Drug Systems is a Pharmacy that fills prescriptions for different
Nursing Homes and Department of Corrections facilities. While employed at
Choice Drug Systems I was able to learn many things and work in different
areas of this facility. I started out in the Nursing Home Department. In
this department my duties as a Pharmacy Technician was to match and verify
drug's with the patient's name and corresponding edit sheets. Put them on
top of the correct tote of that particular Nursing home and the Pharmacist
would check behind me and put his or number on it then I would put bubble
packs in the correct Nursing Home tote. I move from this department to the
Warehouse where all the Medication was stocked. In this department my
duties were: To pull medication's for each Nursing Home and Department of
Correction Facility's, Stocked shelves, fill and process all backordered
medications and put away all daily drug orders. After this department I
move to the Department of Corrections department where I processed and
filled 7-day bags, Unit-Dose orders, 30-day dose cards, Bulk items, and
liquid dispensing.
