. Lowered the Worker's Compensation Insurance rate from .95 to .55
in three years; lowered the cost of worker's compensation
insurance substantially over the three year period.
. Negotiated with OSHA on machine guard violations; reduced to a
warning; lead project that completely renovated all machines,
upgraded shields/guards to meet OSHA standards. The estimated
cost of project was $500,000.
. Lowered the OSHA reportable accidents from 14 recordable
injures to 0 injures so in 2010. Lead on all aspects of
Worker's Compensation.
. Lead an Ergonomics project to rebuild the pre-weigh area; worked
with outside contractors to revamp the area. The estimated cost
of project was $50,000.
. Worked with safety committee on OSHA reportable injuries
associated with cuts and stitches over a two year period;
changed the style of "box cutter" used to a more ergonomically
friendly model. Negotiated with safety committee through several
models and designs before one was agreed upon.
. Worked with the Ankeny Fire Department and an outside contractor
to upgrade the fire alarm and tornado systems throughout the
plant. Eliminated the need for fire hoses which reduced annual
inspection costs.
. Worked on various shifts, unannounced on occasion, audited for
OSHA, EPA, city waste water, DOT, and NFPA infractions; made
corrections as needed with the proper departments' authorities
to keep the plant in compliance.
. Prepared and presented to large groups required OSHA
presentations/training using Microsoft PowerPoint.
