CAREER HIGHLIGHTS AND ACHIEVEMENTS
Managed and staffed mechanical development organization responsible for
multiple system development projects. Coached mechanical design teams to
maximize utilization of common architectures, component standardization,
and design for manufacturing principles. Results: Achieved project budgets,
award of new business for next generation product developments resulting in
profit of $40M and customer recognition for development capabilities.
Spearhead and collaborated development and funding for four mechanical
systems that supported improved customer specifications, product design
robustness, integrity and compliance to requirements. Results: Avoided
quality charge backs up to $1M per project due to improved customer
specifications based on capabilities to quantify and verify customer
requirements. In addition the labs reduced the required resource level by
20% for requirements verification.
Introduced new product design concepts to major OEM's at technology fairs
to develop opportunities for new business. Developed and presented first 6-
CD player radio packaging design and first surface concept. Results:
Received business award for development of next generation audio product
that incorporated a 6 CD changer player worth $12M in sales.
Supported and collaborated with customer design studios and engineering
groups on next generation product families ensuring feasibility and
capability with available technologies to achieve the desired results in
the market. Past process identified dissatisfaction due to not achieving
desired results for function, appearance, cost and quality. Results:
Launched two (2) product family designs that exceeded the customer's
requirements and expectations for customer satisfaction, quality and cost.
Managed and coached development team in incorporating cost improvements for
a product family to overcome loss of sales due to non competitive position
in the market. Generated cost improvement proposals to the customer for
review and approval. Results: Approved proposals for product re-designs
resulted in a product material savings of $9.00 per unit and an annual
savings of $4.5 M.
