Operations Planner

. Develop and implement all production schedules to maximize

efficiencies and minimize costs. Manage production to meet customer

requirements and achieve plant KPI goals.

. Coordinate order management. Liaison with customers, sales department,

and plant employees to insure inventory availability and meeting all

customer requirements. Manage forecasting.

. Direct inventory planning and control activities. Control and report

all inventory for the mill as well as the Rail Products subsidiary.

Manage toward minimizing slow moving inventory. Review weekly finished

goods inventories, verifying data for inaccuracies.

. Minimize additional costs and interruptions to customer delivery

schedules by leveling out unanticipated and unscheduled production

delays. Coordinate issues due to failed equipment.

. Optimize production and inventory levels by developing schedules for

the rolling mill and melt shop that included performing diversified

coordinating, scheduling and production control.

. Monitor production progress continuously; investigate inventory

discrepancies and develop solutions to short-term supply issues.

Analyze and report daily, weekly and monthly production results.

. Functioned as Mill Provider; insured that correct inventory is always

available and properly staged.

. Analyze daily progress to anticipate potential delays and prevent

costly schedule adjustments.

. Minimize "emergency" or additional shipments to reduce shipping costs;

shipments.

Superintendent, Production Planning, Warehousing and Shipping (1992 -

2006)

. Managed overall warehousing and shipping operations at the Sand Springs

Mill, including coordinating customer requirements for shipments by

rail, truck or barge. Prepared and manage annual budget.

. Provided leadership to staff, including a clerk, dispatcher, general

foreman, shipping foremen, warehouse (shear) foremen and bargaining unit

(union) hourly workforce. Exercised responsibility over Rebar

Fabrication Department.

. Coordinated production and shipment of billets to sister facility at

Joliet, Illinois and outside billet sales.

. Liaised with customers, sales department, downstream personnel and mill

employees to emphasize meeting all customer demands.

. Planned and established daily and weekly production schedules for Melt

Shop and Rolling Mill.

. Maintained multiple inventory reporting systems and the administration

of the inventory.

. Prepared a detailed annual Production Plan based on a Melt Capacity of

650,000 tons and AISI/ASTM customer requirements, then further daily and

weekly scheduling of melt shop and rolling mill production based sales

forecasts, changing priorities, revisions and cancellations. Managed

forecasting, maintained accuracy.

. Interacted with the sales department daily to insure optimum inventory

composition and level that will meet customer's needs and satisfy

company objectives in controlling cost of inventory and inventory turns.

. Functioned as Corporate Traffic Manager; negotiated rates with railroads

and trucking companies and resolved traffic and logistics issues.

Provided logistics solutions. Subject matter expert for compliance with

all federal and state DOT regulations. Maintained on-time delivery

performance and customer service as related to logistics.

Rebar Fab Shop Manager (1984 - 1992)

. Managed the Rebar Fabrication Department at the Sand Springs Mill;

managed and scheduled work force, equipment acquisition, order

administration and inventory control for this fabricating facility for

reinforced bar, including shearing and bending from detailed engineering

specifications.

maintenance.

utilization and backlog.
